Blog homework: 5/19: Whats the biggest lie you ever told?

Hello everyone! I have finally got the time to sit down and write another blog homework!

I’m sorry for always choosing heavy topics to chat about but if i’m going to write about something it will usually always be something that matters!

The biggest lie I’ve ever told is a lie that I think a lot of people tell daily, myself included. Although I have unfortunately told many lies in the past, (from keeping secrets from my parents to lying to my friends - I always keep in mind that if i’m going to lie, it’s for, what i’d like to call, the best. This means that I’m either trying to protect a friend from harms way or something similar, mind you, I do not agree with lying to avoid hurting someone’s feelings - I know I’d always prefer honesty when it comes to something serious.

It’s the lie that has truly effected me in the worst ways, but also a lie that I feel is so easy to avoid!

Question: How are you feeling?

Lie: Yeah I’m fine.

And no, I’m not talking about when you’re at work and Susan from accounting is handing you papers and murmurs a quick “How are you” so she doesn’t feel rude. I’m talking about being honest with your friends and family about your mental state.

I thought this would be an awesome opportunity to raise some awareness for mental illness and express how important it is to be honest with how you’re feeling.

Speaking as someone who has dealt with half a life time’s worth of depression and anxiety, I agree that sometimes it’s too easy to sweep your problems and how you’re really feeling under the rug - especially if you’re somebody that doesn’t like to ‘make a fuss’.

It’s okay to not be okay!

I think that if I had been more honest with my family and friends from a younger age about opening up with how I’m feeling, I would have saved myself a lot of suffering on my own.

Going to keep this one short and sweet again guys! I hope you enjoyed this blog homework, and who knows, maybe it opened your eyes to how often you hide how you’re feeling!

“Sometimes you can hurt yourself more than anyone can hurt you just by keeping all your feelings hidden."

Stay rad,

Akiramai x

I love your writing, even if it's always "heavy". It's just so raw and articulate! We're on the same wavelength girl. The first thing that came to mind when reading this blog homework was "I'm fine." The amount of times I've said that to friends and family just to avoid speaking out...
