I left Kate last night and came home to get some errands done today...checking another facility, etc...and I won't see her again until late this afternoon. But Dave reports that the doctor is trying to wean her from the vent ENTIRELY by Sunday. She still is doing great....a little bit of elevated blood pressure and higher heart rate as she works harder and harder but that is normal. Dr. Schmidt says she is "very" strong. They have a busy day planned for her today...so I am thankful Dave is going to be there with her. Keep praying. I am so encouraged I am jumping out of my skin. I'll ask Melissa to post tonight's update because I am staying at the hospital tonight and will not have access to a computer. Mom Angie
I talked to dad this morning and he said the vent weaning is in progress and Katie is tolerating it well. Since 5 this morning she was breathing on her own without the vent having to assist her. It is there to supply breaths if Katie doesn't take them on her own. Between 5 and 9 am she didn't need any! She's doing it! Praise the Lord!
There still could be steps backward, but so far so good!!
