I am so glad to be back in SoCal, you have no idea. I had the worst experience related to travel trying to get back home on Friday. The weather was so bad that we were delayed in Newark for over 4 hours. Then, by the time we got to Phoenix, we had missed all of the connecting flights. So I slept in the airport. Not very comfortably, which I am sure goes without saying.
I was totally freaked out because my goddaughter's 3rd birthday was the next day and it didn't look like I was going to make it. But I flew into Burbank and had my best friend's husband pick me up and I made it to the party. And I was intially flying into Ontario. Oh yea and my luggage- was sent to Ontario. So I had to arrange to get down there. I have to laugh at the situation. Even if they had lost my luggage completely, I'd have been OK because I was able to get home safely and get to the party. Life throws lemons, so make the lemonade and add some sugar for sweetness.
I come home then to find my brother has given my nieces back to their useless mother.
And today, my Dad calls to tell me that Mom is back in the hospital. They are going to run some tests to figure out why her lungs aren't clear and why she is having trouble breathing. But her heart is really good.
I am turning 30 in 3 days and there are no birthday plans in sight. I am considering drinking a bottle of wine and sleeping through the night.

Damn, was that flying positive space or stand by? I fly standby a whole lot so I'm totally used to everything you've described. It's the price you pay for flying free.
