A few lines of wisdom from FAQ for you my blueberry muffin:
To embed an image in your journal entry, find the address of the image you want, paste it into your journal. At the start of the address put

Your image must be viewable on the web somewhere. You cannot add images directly from your hard drive. If you need a place to host the image you want to display add it to the "my pics" section of your profile.
The image MUST end with a .jpg, .jpeg, .gif or .png in order to display. You cannot embed a .bmp image.
