Poor motorcycle. So after not being able to fix it myself (partly because I don't have a proper garage) I took my lil Ducati into the shop to have them look at it.
So...
My bike's Dash is Kaput, DONE. It's an almost $800 part. (of course) Plus she needs a 36k mile service, all said and done we're talking $1500, for a bike that I'm pounding into the ground with all the miles I put on it. It's in good shape, just not for the kind of miles I most likely am going to put on it in the next couple of years.
Edit:
The Dash is linked to the electrical kill for the engine and is not something you can get from an old bike. It comes with a new set of keys and ECU. The only way I know of (after asking the MOB) to get around it, is get an aftermarket ECU and starter, and then an aftermarket dash... however all of that will cost more than the $800 for the ducati part. It would give me some cool maping options if I went for an aftermarket exhaust... but for a bike that I'm going to replace in 2 years anyway it's hard to justify the money.
