Here I am . . . back at home. 31 hours later. (Uugghh.)

The good news is that I knew I would have a long layover in Fort Meyers. So I had rigged up a bed in the back of the airplane.

First I spread a foam-rubber "egg crate" pad across the bare aluminum deck of cargo compartments A and B. Then I laid three towels on top of that. Next I unrolled my sleeping bag over it.

It all crushed down flat under the weight of the cargo, so it didn't measurably interfere with the usable volume. And once I arrived at Page Field, I just unloaded the plane and then crawled in the back and went straight to sleep. Ah, bliss!

I got up in time to walk to a convenience store and buy a hot dog, a turkey sandwich and a Pepsi. Then I met my ground courier, uploaded some cargo and flew to Sarasota. I uploaded more cargo in Sarasota and then flew back to Orlando.

I stayed in my office late making arrangements for next month and updating the company training Web site. Finally it was so late I just thought what the hell and went to sleep on the floor. I rode home this morning at around nine.

So I'm sitting here eating breakfast as I type. Maybe I'll mow the yard today . . . The odds aren't looking good, however, and the sofa is.
