It's not the birth, it's the death of a nation
The 4 Skins - "1984" (1981)
Away from the fiasco across the Atlantic then...
All in all, with the obvious exception, not that bad a week. Starting to get on top of my workload, my bank balance is looking healthier than it has for a long time and life is generally not that bad.
One thing I have decided this week is that I'm dropping out of Primitive Promotions - I intend to tell the other three people I run it with at a meeting on Monday. Basically, I've just got pig sick of being screwed around by shifty and/or incompetent promoters in Leeds (I thought we'd solved that problem by moving to a new venue a few months ago but they've proved to be just as big a bunch of clueless dickheads as the old one were) and the fact that we just seem to be perennially beset by bad luck and poor attendances at our gigs.
So I shall now be concentrating solely on my own band, Timebomb and doing some fanzine journalism here and there. I'm not sure yet whether the others'll carry on without me but I think the smart money says they will. All the best to 'em but I think I'd just gone as far as I could honestly go with it.
Also not going to the Monsters of Rock of Ages thing this weekend anymore as the bassist in my band (who I was s'posed to be going with) has knackered his back (note to self, if we ever do need a new bass player, choose one whose main hobby isn't rock climbing). To anyone who is, hope you have a top time.
Some good news though - went to an excellent gig by Goldrush last night and got the new EP which has been on my stereo. Imagine a less punchable Coldplay with a lead singer who isn't under the impersonation that he can only communicate through whalespeak and you wouldn't be too far off.
Also off to see Hundred Reasons on Friday which should be good.
Anyway, I've got a small box of fireworks seeing as today's November 5th and am now off to let 'em off and enjoy watching them go boom before heading to the pub.
Hope everyone has a good weekend & see you all on the other side of it.

You're beautiful and that's what the fireworks were for
Too beautiful for such an ugly world...
