Turn and face the strange
The door is open, you're awake
A storm in heaven without God
A storm in heaven without God
Remember...

I know where you live
And I know you're on your own
I may forget, I don't forgive
I'm always home...

You turn and face the strange
You turn and face yourself...

Therapy? - "Turn" (1993)

Sometimes I find that when confronted with the darkness that exists in my mind, it's a good idea to put some suitably dark and nasty music on to let it sort of merge into the atmosphere and escape. Hence "Troublegum" being on the stereo atm. mad

Bad things that have happened this week:

- I haven't heard from the other lad who runs Primitive since our gig on Monday. Although I could see the upside of the fact that it didn't really go as planned, he seemed really down about it afterwards. The poor guy's been through a lot lately - his girlfriend's seriously ill at the moment as well frown ...I'm just hoping he's okay though I'm sure he is.

- Had the day from hell at work today. Due to our latest office reshuffle, I've been cooped in a room with our resident emo kid who brings his Ipod to work with him and have had a day of having Alkaline Trio, Box Car Racer and, erm, Evanescence shoved down my lugholes (no disrespect to farqueue and the other emo fans reading this but I think you've probably gathered by now that this sort of music is very much not my cup of tea) mad . Got home this evening and the first thing I did was shove "Greatest Hits Vol 1" by the Cockney Rejects on the stereo and scream along to "I'm Not A Fool" at the top of my voice. Having since listened to the 4-Skins, Therapy?, the Piranhas, Terrorvision and the Membranes, I finally feel cleansed.

- I'm sure most SG'ers (and nearly all UKSG'ers) will be familiar with "Shaun of the Dead". You know that bit at the beginning where it's got Shaun stumbling through a particularly hellish day at work with all the background noises (car alarms, ambulances etc) turned up uncomfortably loud to disorientate you? That's what my walk back up the mile or so of ring road from my work to my bus stop was like this evening. Admittedly, the severe sleep deprivation I've gone through in the last couple of nights (of which more later) can't have helped but I swear north Leeds does bear some uncanny similarities to Hell some days... frown

- It is currently cold, dark and pissing with rain outside. Yet I must brave this weather as I crave alcohol and the cellar is empty. frown

But, to balance the equation out, some good things:

- Lots of lovely Amazon CD's and DVD's arriving today. biggrin Including (thank you God...)

- Went to a top gig last night (hence the sleep deprivation) featuring the Rocks (not brilliant musically but they put on one hell of a stage show), Special Needs (singalongalibertines ie not very good), Baby Food (formerly hopeless electroclash types who now sound like "Cruiser's Creek" era Fall...well, it's good progress at least) and, stars of the show the Barbs about whom I shall only say OHMYFUCKINGAWD, THESE DUDES ROCK, BUY THEIR ALBUM!!! biggrin Anyone who's a fan of the Rezillos especially should check it out.

- Weekend. Two days, no work. 'Nuff said.

- Chance of a suitably scuzzy night out at Bradford Rio's tomorrow now I've been paid. wink

- And I think I may just have found a kindred spirit in my workplace, spent lunchtime down the pub with one of the new girls in my department who, it turns out, is a GBH, Dead Kennedys and Black Flag fan. Finally, someone here whose idea of "rock" isn't the Stereophonics! smile

Anyway, that's enough from me for now, the pub is beckoning. Have a good weekend everyone.

Yorkie smile

Every thing will get better eventually, I just want it to be better NOW!!! biggrin

I really would check out the Kerrange tour. I've heard good things about the other bands (Hurricane Party and JOhhny Panic) in a faux punk metal-n-roll sort of way.

Any news on potential gigs yet??
We only have the album launch at Madame Jo Jo's in London, and a gig atthe Bristol Bierkellar sorted so far.
