The city's new, the faces change
I know they're different yet they act the same
I only want a place to rest my head
But if looks could kill I might as well be dead
You turf me out then you kick me down
'Cos I'm a stranger on the town
The Damned - "Stranger On The Town" (1982)
So here we be again. Fairly busy first half of the week. Monday night I went out for a mate of a mate's leaving do. This resulted in a trip to a city centre bar, far too much beer being drunk and ended in a drunken discussion about whether we all preferred Kiss with or without make-up. So a good night then.
Last night went to a gig at the Cockpit featuring the superb Danko Jones (really, go see this guy, he really is living breathing 100% rock 'n' roll) and the Bronx who kind of suffered from having such a good band supporting them. They picked up a bit towards the end but I think I'd have to hear 'em again on their own terms to really appreciate them.
Other than that, this week I have mostly been worrying about being skint (not for the first time, I appear to be dangerously close to my overdraft limit - severe spending restrictions are gonna have to be put in place once the festivals have been and gone I think
), trying to sort out some employment for a few weeks' time and training up my replacement. All of which have been a bit harrowing in their own way to be honest but today's been relatively uneventful which is just the way I like it really.
Plans for this evening? Fish fingers for tea, go to the supermarket to stock up on food and then get a beer out of the fridge and chill in front of the Gamecube (probably playing "Harvest Moon" or "The Hobbit", not decided yet
)
Ah well...roll on the weekend and the SG Stoke meet!
Speak soon you lot,
Yorkie
