Son of a bitch, what a day.
Little things first, been planning for a while to cut my hair (see profile picture and profile comment) to shorter than I've ever had it in my life (which is still not all that short, but for me it's a big jump). Except I've worked up the nerve to go to the place twice now... only to find...

I'm officially a dedicated loudmouth. I've joined the blogging community.
I started a blog today entitled Eyebrow Ascendant. You can find it here: http://eyebrowascendant.blogspot.com/
The subjects will be anything I find that grabs my attention and is related to skepticism or atheism. Hopefully, my point of view will be an original one. For my first actual content post I responded to Chris Hedges' charges of...

Greetings, fellow internet spag!
nolongerhere:
I haven't read that blog yet, but I certainly like nickname you picked for it!
darkram:
Keep it away from Tim Curry! Yeah ok, not everyone liked the movie Legend. You have to admit, that was one badass looking devil.
seizure:
awesome!
My new group, Skepticism and Truth, was approved. If you'd like to discuss anything from Alternative Medicine to Zoroastrian Prophecies, check it out. I'm looking to get the ball rolling, hopefully it'll pick up and be one of SG's most active groups. I'd really like everyone to feel that it's a good place to go to get a credible answer to almost any question.

I appreciate the words...sometimes it's just good to know someone else has dealt with this nonsense. Thanks again!

nice book choices.

I murder conversation.
Or conversation in groups, anyways.
I currently hold the most recent posts in the Antique Medical Equipment, Of Heaven And Heretics, Agnostics, Trip Hop, and English Usage groups.
The English Usage one is less than 24 hours old, but I can feel that venom permeating the group suddenly. There may be a few final twitches of activity, but they're futile denials of...

Slowly working my way toward being the preeminent^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h loudest SG atheist, I may as well go on about it a bit.
I was at a small party this past weekend, just a few friends, and one of my friends (I shall name her Mina), who happens to be the sister of my best friend (let's say Jack), brought one of her friends (Alice). Mina, knowing...

I hate to be the kind of person to come here and promote a bunch of stuff, but I honestly do believe a lot of SG members would be into this. This especially goes for those SG members who like electronic/trip hop/noir style music.
If you have iTunes, download my mix "Le Salon Noir". Well, listen to the samples, THEN download it.
If not, then...

Now this terror and darkness of mind must surely be scattered,
Not by rays of the sun, nor by gleaming arrows of daylight,
But by the outward display and unseen workings of Nature.
And her first rule for us from this premise shall take its beginning;
"Never did will of gods bring anything forth out of nothing."
For, in good sooth, it is thus that...

Nice! I like reading things like that from older sources. That's the kind of thing most people wouldn't feel safe saying today. Most people play the whole god game. But I don't mind Descartes' proof of God because it's basically, "Blah blah, that's why God exists there fore blah blah, and that's why you should give me money." I'd like to know what he would have said to someone he wasn't trying to milk.
A friend of mine suggested I write a book. It's something I've considered a number of times as a sort of pipe dream, but this suggestion actually seems doable. I'd essentially be parodying the Bible, rewriting it in my own voice (or something close to it), and I'm starting to think I could actually accomplish that and it would be worth reading for a laugh....

Hey man I say go for It. I' ve been stuck on a book I was throwin around for a while and I started it but other things came up and I still feel like I sold myself short on that one. Also, it sounds like a very interesting read I would give it at least second glance if I saw book called "The Holy Babel" or such. I live in Casa Grande by the way, god awful I know, but at least now I know there is someone with some cognitive process left in the desert. Anyway good luck. Oh one other thing just becareful of Monty Python reruns. lol

And then my greatest... annoyances, let's say, would all be gathered in one spot. This week President Bush will meet with former Hitler Youth, Joseph Ratzinger, better known as the Pope.
Now, in all fairness, membership in the Hitler Youth was legally required at the time. Ratzinger didn't join willingly. He and his family did not support the Nazis.
Strange...

Nice post, I didn't know about these 'new sins'. It's a shame that this sort of rampant idiocy isn't surprising.
narehusu:
ah, the hypocrisy.
I can't believe anyone would swallow that shit. It just boggles my mind. Pretty soon it will be a sin to leave the water running while you brush your teeth, or to wear big hats and colorful robes if your a man (and not the pope).
Ha, what sin will they think of next (that isn't ridiculously obviously bad like invading another country under pretense of freeing them). Hm.
