Today whilst finnishing the final touches on my Christmas shopping I found myself at a Chapters bookstore. Upon arriving at the counter and ringing in my purchases I was given the option to complete my transaction as such or add on a monetary donation towards a child literacy program, so I donated, and the result was quite alarming. A quite astonished cashier could not help her self question why I chose to donate so much... I only gave $25... have we become so inwardly focused that even during the season of giving a small gesture of goodwill towards others is such a departure from the norm? I beg of anyone who reads this to please go out and commit a random act of kindness for a stranger at the very least once daily. It is so easy to focus on the bad in the world and get bogged down by negativity and lose sight of the fact that the good really does out number the bad. In conclusion I will number the good today in my life, 3 people held open doors for me, 1 person bought my coffee at the drive through, 11 people wished me good tidings today, and 1 person hailed my attention when my wallet fell out of my pocket.... and finally tonight I shall gather at my parents with my sister, we will carry on the tradition of watching the 1951 adaptation of A Christmas Carol, "Scrooge", starring Alastair Sim as the old humbug himself. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, and enjoy this time of giving!
