Do you enjoy movies that look dumb, kinda are, but have some good ideas, but don’t quite go deep enough into them, then have an unexpectedly good ending? Then may I recommend Choose or Die, which made me want to see a sequel or a remake that concentrates on the mythology of it.

Do you enjoy found footage horror set in 1960s (?!) Ireland? Then may I recommend the profoundly anachronistic The Devil’s Doorway, which offers nothing new except the idea that you could just let a handheld film camera just…go…for hours with which to acquire said footage. 😕

Do you enjoy entirely charming and sweet based-on-a-true-story movies about overcoming the illegality of Pinball in a major US city in the 1970s? Then may I recommend Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game. It’s 💯 adorable, engaging, and very well made. Did I mention sweet? 😊

Do you enjoy French extreme graphic horror with a cast of entirely unsympathetic characters that still makes you care about them? Then may I recommend Frontier(s), which does a difficult: unkind characters being murdered terribly by even worse characters—and it all works well

Do you enjoy French torture horror movies that have a great, scary, and interesting first half that fall apart so totally in the second half that it beggars belief? Then may I recommend Martyrs, a torture porn movie that got nonsensically worse as it went—and not in a good way.

Do you enjoy fairly standard action movies with confoundingly inexplicable camera focus choices? Then may I recommend The Mother which is entertaining in an action film, and it’s nice to see ladies kick ass, but…was there a DP on set? I do wonder. 🤔🎥
