Do you enjoy psychological thrillers that turn out to be folk horror? Then may I recommend 6 Souls, which has a strong start, a ho-hum middle, and an unsatisfying ending. But the folk horror part of it has an interesting idea that would make for a good straight horror monster.

Do you enjoy mediocre thrillers supported by a high-powered cast? Then may I recommend The Calling, which is pretty much a Susan Sarandon vehicle with a good start, average middle, and frustrating ending. Interesting plot though. Well, interesting-ish. Kind of simple, really.

Ringu vs The Ring! Winner: The Ring, by a mile.

The remake does almost everything better: dialogue, characters, plot, editing, sequence of events, scares, even the countdown. (Plus, a bucket brigade? Srsly?) But worst of all: it’s not nearly as scary.

Do you enjoy movies that aren’t good? Then may I recommend The Misfits (2021), which isn’t good. It even has a narrator because, as we all know, having someone explain the movie you’re watching is the best filmmaking.

Thought you were talking about the horror punk band, for a minute there.  They also were not stellar... but GREAT

Remember when I said we were planned to parcel them out to make them special—but we’d prolly lose willpower and binge them over the weekend?

We binged all of the rest of it at once.

One of the best shows I’ve seen. Certainly no other show or movie has incorporated poetry as well.

Good horror.

bourbonexplorer:
It was a fantastic show. It was like Succession but as a horror story.

Do you enjoy good lightly connected anthology horror? Then may I recommend V/H/S/85, which has what you’re looking for. If you know the other V/H/S films you know what the drill is. If you don’t, spooky season is a great time to press play. Hard to pick which is best story.

Only two episodes in and…yes. Can’t wait to see the rest—but we’re parceling them out to make them a bit more special. (But realistically we’ll probably lose willpower and binge the rest this weekend—because yes.)

Good show!  With the makers and cast of Hill House.  Can't go wrong

Sir Percival Softpaws would like to wish everyone a happy Friday the 13th—and also you should enjoy boxes, if you feel like it.

I dreamt-convinced myself that today was Saturday. Imagine my surprise when I woke up. 😕 The good news though is that means I can re-live the start of the weekend! 😉 #OptimistMath

I often forget what day it is, lately.  A brief gift  ;-}>

Do you enjoy movies whose premise is so absurd it’s bad for the whole idea of the movie? Then may I recommend Hypnotic, which is so silly past the point of ridiculousness that it’s nigh impossible to appreciate the plot as being sensible or the thrills real. Big budget though.
