Do you enjoy movies that aren’t great but have…something…about them that appeals, like maybe the cinematography or the idea, but then are ruined by the ending? Then may I recommend The Midnight Man, which, I dunno, I was into it for some weird reason—until I really wasn’t.

Watching a rom-com featuring a ghost who watches someone text and reply with emoji.

“Is that how people communicate now? What do you do with all the time you save?”

*pained grimace from the living* 😬

Uhm, yup, same—nothing that particularly advances society, Ms. Ghost. 😕

Do you enjoy super clever modern takes on Evil Dead? Then may I recommend Deadstream, which has a well-executed great premise and is perfectly performed by the lead. I wish it had a bigger SFX budget but everything else was so well done. Smash that like and subscribe. 👍

Do you enjoy movies about killer Panamanian monsters featuring dialogue like “adorable killing machine!”? Then may I recommend Slotherhouse, which is insane, inane, innovative, and—in its unique way—incredible. I mean, I guarantee you won’t believe it. 🤣

P.S. Yes, it’s an actual film. 😆

My additional wife and I had the complete pleasure of a wonderful new (to us) Switchventure at Simple Goodness Sisters, a tiny place in a town so tiny it has no cell service! Do you enjoy enthusiastically gore-filled rom-coms starring legendary evil figures? Then may I recommend Renfield, which was a delight! This sweet film featuring the darkest evils, most sinister plots, and shocking splatfest kills framing a budding love was grand fun to watch. 😊

I am meaning to watch this!  looks very cool

Do you enjoy nonsensical purposefully depressing French films that don’t have a point beyond the obvious, say nothing new about anything, and don’t know how to end so just stop? Then may I recommend Lockdown Tower (La Tour) which is…sci-fi horror, I guess? It’s horrible, anyway.

Do you enjoy high tension crazed sniper movies? Then may I recommend Night of the Hunted which, true to its (exceedingly simple) genre, exists for one reason: tension. What this one does different is to ask the why for it all and to pit two cultural exemplars against each other.

Do you enjoy modern throwbacks to Pee-Wee’s Great Adventure, Gremlins, & other ’80s horror comedies that are actually brilliant in writing, acting, direction, and editing? Then may I recommend Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls, which is amazing in executing just that.
