Do you enjoy movies that take Star Wars, make it shitty, cram it into the Warhanner 40K universe, use the worst possible dialogue and editing, then film half of it in super slow-mo? Then may I recommend Rebel Moon, which has a *big* budget—all of it wasted b/c of script, acting, and direction.

Also, it’s not very good.

Addendum: it’s embarrassingly bad.

Do you enjoy movies that are well acted but aren’t new? Then may I recommend Pain Hustlers, which features unsympathetic characters and unfolds almost precisely the way you think it will, but it’s great watching Emily Blunt who does a fab job.

Do you enjoy ho-hum movies? Then may I recommend Don’t Worry Darling, whose ideas aren’t super original, but the performance and production are nice. The two, plot and production, kind of balance each other out actually. For every good, there’s a bad, so in the end it breaks even. 🤷♂️

OK, tonight’s pizzatainment was Leave the World Behind b/c I didn’t like it, but RT has it 75/35, some of my social ❤️—am I missing something. I needed the opinion of the house.

The house says: my review was 💯. They disliked it more than I did, being exasperated at multiple points until they had a frowny face.

Do you like movies that are kind of unfocused but bring themself into focus and now that it is, you’re not sure if you like what you’re seeing? Then may I recommend The Strays, which starts out kind of in either one genre or another but then becomes another then yet another. Not sure I like any.

Do you like movies that are so-called thrillers but are actually two hours of an argument? Then may I recommend Fair Play, which has a two-dimensional lead character and a support that’s so comically unlikable one wonders how it got into a movie that was actually produced.

Do you enjoy big budget movies that create mystery and hold the answer so long that an ever increasing amount of nonsense generates until, by the end, you say so what? Then may I recommend Leave the world Behind. Starts with nonsense, keeps it, ends with it. Also: terrible main characters. Overlong.

Do you enjoy movies that are simple in plot, character, sets—well everything really? Then may I recommend Nowhere, which its movie poster tells you everything you need to know about it. (Weird title tho.) Unnecessarily complex setup doesn’t get in way of great performance. Great background movie.

Do you enjoy exemplary horror with a fresh story, great acting, great direction (and outstanding visuals), and solid, strong writing—and worthy scares? Then may I recommend His House, whose secret is hanging supernatural horror onto a great IRL story that’s endemic with dread, anxiety, fear & pain.
