Where to begin!?
Let us start with Targt. Picture this, a warm yet hazy evening in Culver City. Two young men travel with all the windows down and coffee in hand. Speeding down Overland Blvd., Miss Kitten setting the tone, the two men have tea kettles and coat hangers in their future. Arriving to their destination, the two quickly grow frustrated with the endless parking lot with tens of cars swarming like vultures over a man lost in the desert, searching for parking. After fifteen minutes of cursing the mobile rests in a remote corner. The tone of the next two hours was set immediately when the driver opens the door to the car, steps out and looks down. He had just sunk his foot deeply into a half eaten Carl's Jr. Nastyburger Meal. Targt can do all the re-branding they want. They can put up billboards with cool icons, commercials withh all the songs we like and hire Todd to make all kindsa' cool designs for them...but the will still, always, be a GHETTO STORE. The shelves: empty, the sales staff: nowhere to be found, the check-out: horrific, the snack bar: nacho cheeeeeeeeeziest. (Don't smoke pot and go shopping.)
From there the weekend shopping continued to the a whole new level. I danced and pranced through the isles of my favorite store...you see the swedish understand how to make shopping enjoyable. Consumer Happy= Consumer Spend. Me and the swedish have an understanding. You see, they make stuff, I buy it. Tea light candles for days yo. I tell ya', who knew I NEEEEDED so much!?
The electro night was 'aight...great music. A few stylin' souls, but otherwise the room was stuffed to the brim what might as well have been a BritPop/Mod night. I just ended up feeling old...
My good friends got engaged this weekend. They are two of the coolest and sweetest kids you could ever ask to surround yourself with. So conscious. So aware. So positive. They have been dating off and on for 10 years now... they had a birthday party for her 30th where they made the announcement. All the family and friends were there... that just made me feel young.
Pumpkin sucked- Nice try, missed the mark. The Secretary Rocked (GO SEE THIS.) And I didn't get to see The Rules Of Attraction yet.
Tonight is a big GenArt party. A great organization throwing a great partay... should be fun.
Music: Ivy, Metric, 3 Mile Pilot
Something You Didn't Know: I Danced with Alvin Ailey
