Hello all!! So, to help you get to know me a little bit better, I've decided to tell you ten things about me!
1. I'm a total bibliophile!
Gimme all yrr books. No really, I mean that entirely literally. I'm constantly on a site called thriftbooks.com, because the sell books at a fraction of what they would be in a bookstore. I love books on history, politics, science, and international relations. I love the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the world and the knowledge it has to offer.
2. I've been riding horses since I was three.
Actually, my third birthday party had a pony, and it's my first really vivid memory. I took lessons until I was 19, in show jumping and dressage. Horses have taught me patience and emotional connection in a way that I can't begin to describe. I wouldn't feel whole without them.
3. I know how to weld.
My dad taught me when I was a sophomore in high school, and I fell in love. There's something so fulfilling in being able to repair something, or create art with my welder. My latest project was removing a rusted hole in the 1948 Studebaker pick up my dad and I are restoring.
4. 3,continued
I'm an absolute daddy's girl, so I grew up in the dirt of my driveway working on cars with my dad and his friends. I'm a pretty decent mechanic. I know how to change my own oil, tires, brakes, etc. I own my own welder, and kickass helmet with purple flames. I absolutely love spending a weekend working on my tractor or truck.
5. Running keeps me sane.
I'm like a hamster without a wheel. Haha. I was a varsity soccer player in high school, running up to 12 miles a day and it was magic for me. Running opens my mind up. Every step brings me closer to happiness.
6. I hate pickles.
Seriously, who thought ruining cucumbers was a good idea?? There's nothing appealing about brine. And yet, every time a pickle is on my plate I think, this is it, this is the time I'm proved wrong. Alas, it has yet to happen.
7. I call my boyfriend Squeak.
No, really. It started out as making fun of him. Now it's the norm. It's funny how one person can make you so damn happy, and infuriate you at the same time. Am'I'right? Haha.
8. I absolutely love living in Maine.
Surprisingly. I'm the quintessential summer baby, fonder of the heat and sunshine than the winter. Not to mention, I hate snow. A few months ago my best friend asked me to move to Maine with her, and I lept at the opportunity for a change of scenery and lifestyle. Maine has opened my mind to become a better person. I feel at home surrounded by the mountains and vast forests.
9. I smoke weed.
Weed is the first pain management strategy that has worked for me. I suffer from chronic migraines, insomnia, and fibromylagia. My life was incredibly hard to participate in when I was in constant pain. I also love how smoking opens my mind to new ideas and a greater level of consciousness. I feel so creative and free.
10. Suicide Girls is changing my life.
I suffered from anorexia for years. When it began, I was in a personally chaotic time in my life. In total Type A fashion, it was a way for me to control my life when I felt out of control. Only within the last year of my life have I really come to terms with myself, and found a way to appreciate and love my body for all can do. I absolutely adore the acceptance and positivity that this community promotes daily. Finally being able to love my body, and my curves is a wonderful feeling. I can't wait to share my first set with you!
