I've really been missing "home" (Newburyport, Mass) badly lately, although its mostly for the people. I moved there when I was 22 and stayed until I was 40, so basically all of my adult life was spent there. Parenting in California is great but the pay in my field, wood construction and joinery, frankly sucks here, and the cost of living is a good deal more than back East. The only thing that has been a winner across the board has been benefit to the kids living in this climate and environment, and in truth that covers it for me. Still, sometimes I really would like to wake up in the morning in walking distance to Fowles News on State St.

It's not just the west coast either . I had one place going back & forth on me for weeks . Scheduling a interview one day , then not getting to me at all until that day to tell me it was canceled due to the HR person being off on vacation ( yeah , no one could have seen that coming ) . Don't let it get you too down . Do what I did & make jokes about & laugh at their incompetence
