What to type, what to type... I'm such a dork.
Today, work went surprisingly well. I think I put too much espresso in the iced vanilla latte that I had for dinner, and as a result, I ended up being way more talkative to complete strangers that I normally would have liked to have been, but oh well... Making ridiculously caffeinated beverages for yourself is one of the perks of working in a coffee shop, I guess.
I had planned on buying girly hats on my break, but didn't manage to go anywhere. All I did was sip coffee, smoke cigarettes, and read the newest Spin magazine's articles about Ian Mackaye and PJ Harvey.
My brother-in-law apparently got jumped by two guys the other day, and he ended up beating the living shit out of them. My sister told me about it the other day, and I didn't think much of it, being that he seems to get in altercations relatively often, but then he and my sis stopped by my work, with the babies in tow, to get a drink and bullshit for a little while, and I saw that he still has dried blood on his Timberland boots. I was told that one of the people who felt the need to jump my brother got beat down to the ground, and caught a boot in the mouth, with all the strength that my brother could manage. As a result, dude's jaw is now wired completely shut. Shit gets pretty crazy in the 'Ville every now and then. I was wondering exactly what was going through dude's head when he thought to try to fuck my brother up, and what he was thinking when his teeth got kicked out by a dirty leather work boot. A lot of people around here are really fucking stupid. I swear.
I'm more-or-less with my brother-in-law on this one. When two guys try to jump one guy who's alone, and then they get completely and utterly fucked up, I can't bring myself to muster any sympathy for them, no matter how badly off they may be now. I don't mean to advocate any kind of violence, but there's a time and a place for everything... Fuck it. It's not often that my brother-in-law is completely without blame, but this is one of those times, I guess.
Saw my and my sis's friend Anny today. I haven't seen her in a while. Every time I see her, she's always like "You never call"... The thing is, I don't really call anyone. I don't even talk to my family much on the phone, not to mention anyone else. If it's an emergency, I'll find a way to get in touch, but as for normal daily routine-type conversation, I'd rather do it in person or not at all. The internet is always an open option as well... I'm not a very social person. I am, but I'm not, at the same time... What can I say? "Sorry" seems to work most of the time...
My nieces are hilarious. My youngest niece has the whole waving-thing down, but she does it backwards, waving at herself instead of other people. It's pretty damn cute. She'll look at you, then start trying to wave, looking less as if she's waving to you, and more as if she's trying to grab something in the air that only she can see. Her big sister, the older of my two nieces, loves to be held and apparently likes the feeling of the brick walls outside my work. She was endlessly fascinated by them earlier as I was holding her, on one of my cigarette breaks.
I was talking to my friend Maia online earlier, about Richmond, and she told me that they have a damn good skate scene up there. Makes me wish I brought my skateboard with me the other night...
I'm off to go smoke now. Maybe I'll think of something else to type here in a little bit, or maybe not. Who knows? I'm just a dork like that... I know for sure, that more beer and cigarettes are most definitely in the works, though. I'm such a fucking chain-smoking lush, I swear.
See ya.
