Atlanta was a blur. Not enough time to do anything! Mellythepirate was good company and a very patient guest. My grandma and my great aunt kicked me out of the kitchen on Easter, essentially, but I didn't complain because I got to eat their awesome food. I didn't have time to cook anyway.frown My dogs were good boys for the most part and I got to see all of them, even my bull terrier, George.love

We hit up the Earl and Northside Tavern for drinks, R. Thomas for healthy food (because Melly's a vegetarian and it's veggie heaven), and Six Feet Under for fried everything. I drove her around and got lost in the fancy suburbs ogling big fancy houses and the gorgeous flowers and trees in bloom everywhere. She experienced the magic of Chik-fil-a and even got a cute piercing in Little Five Points.

My girlfriend took us out last night and after a deep-fried dinner and drinks at Northside, with a live blues band and scuzzy old men everywhere, we even found some Southern boys (complete with accents and liberal use of the word "sweetheart") for her to make out with. There are so many people I didn't get to see, but I did get to see a few I really love.smile

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Something odd happened to me while I was home. My good friend told me that my big ex (the crazy Brazilian med student) was telling her how much he missed me and, get this, what a good wife I'd be. Say what? We had an open relationship. He called me last week but I hadn't called him back, because we didn't part on the best terms and I just didn't see a good reason to. He kept calling, so I finally caved and went to visit him. It was just like old times, in the best and worst ways. We had insane Brazilian sex (that's what I'm going to call it now if the dirty talk's not in English) and I got all kinds of weird bruises. I haven't been talked to like that in....possibly ever, which is saying something. Then, true to form, he asked me to help him prepare for a presentation the next day on bradycardia. He offered me endless issues of JAMA and the NEJM (he knows my weaknesses).blush He told me how much he missed me, how much more loving/smarter/better in bed I was to the girls he's seen since, how thankful he was for my help in preparing him for Step 2 of his boards (he aced it), and how much he wants me to go to the small town where he'll be doing his psychiatry residency starting this summer. I told him how happy I am up here, and meant it. I spent the early hours of this morning laying in his bed, being held as closely and as tightly as possible. He asked me the question I've been wanting him to ask me, sincerely, since it happened: really, why did I do it? It was good to be able to answer from a place far removed from the one I was in back then. He remembered the pet names I called him in Portuguese. It was romantic and stupid and I'm glad I saw him one last time.

Wow...pirate attacks on the news. The real news, not The Onion.ARRR!!!

I'm reading The Book of Dead Philosophers right now. So many great quotes and lovely tidbits! I'm being old-fashioned and thorough and reading it in its entirety, not as a miscellany, but it'd still be fascinating if you read it that way.

Good one, Dave.wink
