I wish I didn't suck so much at writing blogs...oh well. Anyway, I'm back in Atlanta for the summer. I love being home, but I kinda want to go back to school. I'm bored most of the time, but if I was at school I would have something to do all of the time. I'm interning at a venue this summer, which is so badass. I pretty much base my life around when I get to go to work. I'm learning how to run sound and set up sound and I'm loving it. It's so much fun and I've met so many awesome people. Other than that, I don't really have a lot going on in my life at the moment. Exciting stuff only happens to me when I'm out at school, haha. I can't really do any shows this summer, since I don't have a venue to work with. I would start setting some stuff up for the upcoming semester, but I don't really feel like it and I don't know which spaces on campus are actually available for use. Hopefully I'll get a lot of good show offers. I got one, but another venue put a hold on the date before I could/ I guess that's what sucks about all of this. with most venues, they can just book whatever they want. But with me, I have to register the event, book a room, meet with Student Involvement, and get club approval. It takes up way too much time and not every booking agent is willing to wait for me to finish all of that before I can give an answer. And all of that is just to put a hold on the date. It's ridiculous. I really want to figure out a way to streamline that whole process with the school, but I doubt I'll be able to do that before I go back in August. ::sigh:: and it would have been so awesome to do a show with Know The Score and Dead Hearts...But seriously, this internship is the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I'm almost the total promoter package. All I have left to do is to learn how to run lights and I already kind of learning. I'm also learning a lot about booking from talking to the agent at the venue. He's really nice and easy to talk to. He has no problem talking to me about issues they've had with past shows, how much guarantees are for upcoming shows, logistics behind some of the prices and whatnot, and other stuff pertaining to booking. The only downside about working at this particular venue is that there really isn't anyone working there that's my age. I've met one other person that helps out that is maybe close to my age. Everyone else is either married with children or 15. The next show is with Sky Eats Airplane and the best band in the whole wide world; A Skylit Drive...just kidding...I can't stand that band. They're from Stockton, so I see them way too much. My friend Kristen is coming to this show, so it'll be nice to have a friend there to keep me entertained. Either that, or she'll be a distraction. but I guess it just depends on what they want me to do. I've done mixing for two shows on my own so far. It's not all that hard, but I guess my being nervous made it difficult. Oh well, hopefully I'll get to do sound for this show. I don't really have anything else to say right now...well, I do, but it would take forever to write it, so that'll have to wait until another day. Until then...
