That would be cool! Or do you still have the link?

I saw you mention Usenet in someone else's journal, and you're one of the few people I've met who've used Usenet let alone know what it is. This means you rock. Don't worry, I'm not about to blather on about xnews and my favourite server etc.
i'm back home... and i've switched names
the last time i updated this journal i was in austria getting ready for the slog to venice the following day... i can say that vencie was awesome - such a beautiful city in quite unbelievable circumstances, the weather was great (40 degrees) and i regret that i only had a few hours to try and take it...

Thanks for the article submissions, they were both good and I've queued both of them for publication. Just a tip though - you only need to cite a single source for the article, as long as it's from a reputable source like the Guardian or BBC or another publication of that caliber it should be fine, unless you're quoting material from other sources. Thanks again.

thanks for the birthday post! I had a great time in Tampa.
God damn it someone has turned off the nice weather! Today its rained, rained and then rained a little more just to make sure we're all wet enough...

I had an awesome day today, i went to the edinburgh international games festival and played some awesome games, if you're interested - Outrun 2 on the Xbox rawks as does GT4 on the PS2 with some very lovely albeit not original motion blurring which was very noticeable - maybe a bit OTT on that - (re: see GTA Vice City on the Xbox for...

You can get last minute cheap flights out of the US to London for like $300 (150 skrilla) if you look carefully and book last minute. And 5hrs on a plane aint nothing!

Had a quick scan about and may have some stuff that can help. I use Mplayer and VLC for most of my video needs, plus Windows Media Player, but only when I really have to (it's shit, unsurprisingly). I've also upgraded to QuickTime Pro, more info nullhere and here, mainly so I could save / export movies.
Mplayer
VLC
Both VLC and Mplayer are available from VersionTracker and MacUpdate , they're good sites for a trawl around if you haven't found them already. There's loads more media players out there, but these two are pretty good and cover most codecs between them.
For NZB files, check this out this or this, same thing, different places, you'll need to be comfortable with the command line (terminal.app), think DOS, only way more powerful / useful. You can often find some of the more unusual stuff for the Mac available for command line only, since it's really easy to port command line applications from any BSD UNIX to the Mac, doiing the graphical user interface stuff is tricker, so a developer may offer a command line version of an application because they have no interest in adding a Mac GUI. This sort of thing can be a little ugly (and un-Mac-like), but it's always worth a try. There are a lot of Open Source developers switching to Macs, so this situation will improve.
Some research suggests VLC may do the job with .ogm files. Unfortunately there's always politics and personal allegiances (i.e. bullshit) where codecs are concerned, which may be why there's not that much about yet.
Hope this helps, let me know if you remember the other issue. It may also be worth asking if anyone has more information here. Didn't want to respond in the thread, it was too dull to bump
