This is really random, but I was cleaning my desk and found something that reminded me about it. The person who went with you to the last event at siamkittie's apartment mentioned she had a mac laptop with a bad power adapter; at the time there was a class action lawsuit pending about them because they had a bunch of issues. I came across a postcard for that class action lawsuit looked into it. Apple has an article on their website that explains what the lawsuit was about and when they will replace the adapter for free. If her mac is older than 3 years she needs to head to an Apple Store or an Apple service provider soon because there is a deadline coming up a week from tomorrow.
Just figured I would let you know so you can pass it along to her in case she hasn't already looked into it.

I definitely get what you're saying about working with people who can barely get their work done. Someone else in my department was majorly slacking off, causing me to have to do extra work because they were spending most of their time at work online looking for a new house. I complained and complained, but nothing got done until IT called their manager to complain about their excessive internet usage.

There was enough historical things to see, but not much in terms of actual tangible buildings - it was mostly fields and things in museums. Definitely some interesting and historically relevant things to see.
The investigations fortunately won't really have a direct effect on me or my department since they all are looking at the sales organization. Not that big a deal and it's not like the feds are going to come in and talk with me either.
The really odd part of it all though is that earlier this month I thought about it and became concerned about the company's long term prospects - based on how things are going, things did not look good 2-5 years from now. That's kinda the downside to smaller companies - you know everyone and it's a nice place but not as stable as a large company. Fortunately time is on my side since they haven't even found a buyer yet. Once that happens there will be a few months before things transition and layoffs begin so fortunately it's not like I will walk in tomorrow and be told that I'm no longer needed.

I've had a crazy week and in the end due to bronchitis/allergies/cold, I have had a really bad cough for like 3 weeks. My cough has been so bad that it is very possible that I tore a muscle in my stomach. But since I had surgery on my stomach somewhat recently it's a big deal. So if my set comes out you will see...
