A former salesman and shipping office clerk, Anthony Comstock had little education --he could barely read and write but he knew what he didn't like, which was pretty much everything, including athletic supporters. As founder and first secretary of the Society for the Suppression of Vice, he lobbied vigorously for a federal law against obscenity. The difficulty was that the Constitution reserved such matters for...

The burgers were absolutely fabulous. Everyone was raving, and a couple people asked me for my secret recipe. I wish you could have tried some. The Oyster Sauce is likewise very good.

I made the most awesome scallops last night. I sauteed them in garlic and white wine and then ate them over a bed of spinach and toasted almonds. I also had a lovely riesling from Marlborough, New Zealand to go with the scallops.

After dinner I paid bills, which isn't terribly thrilling in itself. It does, however, bring me one step closer to reaching my...

I am so incredibly absolutely smitten --moreso than I've ever been in my life.

But the most terrifyingly wonderful thing is this: I know for a fact that I haven't even come close to reaching the pinnacle of smittenness yet with this one.

Ugh. Food poisoning.

I've never just wanted to have a simple cup of tea more than I do right now, but I don't think I'd be pleased with the results of that.

I got food poisoning once. Headache, violent illness. I went to sleep at like 8 that night. I felt loads better the next day, though. Hope you recover quickly.

In or around the 1940's, anthropologists stumbled upon an isolated community of inbred redneck Appalachian hillfolk. They'd been living and proliferating amongst themselves for long enough that they had developed their own bastardized pidgin dialect of the English language. Their word for sex was "Rickychow", because apparently they all had creaky beds and this was the sound the springs made when they did the deed....

Fuck, it has been suggested, may have sprung from the Latin futuo, the French foutre, or the German ficken, all of which have the same meaning... The word first appears in print in 1503 in a poem by the Scottish poet William Dunbar. Although fuck has been around for centuries, possibly millenia, for a long period it fell out of general...

I had a dream that I was cutting off my hair in large chunks, in preparation for a long journey.
dietotzeit:
I hate to ask, but what kind of journey did you dream of? Cutting off your hair conjures up images of trips to concentration camps, and I know that isn't what you were thinking! Let's hope you saw yourself in some hot and dusty country, a place found only in books.
