Can someone please find me a women's magazine that doesn't totally fuckin suck?

So after reading several issues of "Glamour" and being very near vomiting I bought a copy of "Bitch" magazine. I thought surely it wouldn't piss me off and might be a good read. However, it's filled with a bunch of anti-porn garbage (SG and Playboy mentioned spefically). I know I could overlook...

I wanted to post something up here to see if anyone would half-read it and then post a stupid comment to piss me off.

But I can't think of anything to talk about, so I'm going with this.

Mine was alright, finally kicked a nasty cold I caught earlier in the week, and went to a pretty sweet party last night. word.

Ok so I need some advice. Maybe the students can really help me out on this one.

I had my first test of the semester last week. It was a semi-difficult test but I think I did pretty well. However, the test took me twice as long as it normally would have because there was a girl sitting behind me loudly popping gum bubbles the...

you could simply ask the prof before the next exam about the problem and how he/she suggests you deal with it, meaning should you move to a different part of the room, or maybe he/she can approach the student 'if' the prof notices the disturbances. other than that you'll have to just move yourself or wear earplugs. People take tests in different environments better than others. I had a few friends in college that when they had an engineering test they would go to the test smelling bad (I guess not showering for a few days) and making noises that were not quite out of hand but still bothersome to most. It was their way to make a better curve for themselves. I don't like taking tests in total silence, I need somthing humming or making a constant quiet noise. Hell I hate tests in general but whatever. The girl behind you might be relaxing herself by popping her gum and sniffing and so forth. Not purposefully to hurt you or anyone else, but just to help herself in the exam. Good luck.

Those people sound like assholes. Simple to me.

I've been very financially stressed lately. Between unexpected expenses (like dead cell phones and sick pets) and law school apps, and art supplies, I don't even know how I'm still buying food. Sucks...

Are law school apps and art supplies a bizarre combo of expenses? oink
plumfairy:
yes they kinda are , especially when you can't afford food. Keep a positive outlook though, it sucks ass applying for schools and shelling out so much money for each app, but once your in it will seem worth it. I empathize with you though, financially is one of the only ways I get stressed anymore, and its hard to deal with still when it hits me. good luck

I dropped my fuckin cell phone yesterday. This was like the 1000th and last time it would be dropped because it broke into three pieces. Nice. So I had to buy a new phone. Not nice. Oh well. At least the memory card survived so I didnt lose everyone's phone numbers.

Geez, it's been awhile since I wrote anything here. I've been totally swamped with law school applications and that type of thing.

Other than that, I have decided that Glamour Magazine is probably one of the stupidest things on earth.
andersin:
Law school? Sweet! Good luck; I can only imagine what a pain in the ass law skool app's. are like. Where are you applying? I'm gonna start investigating PA schools further this upcoming week.

I agree, Glamour Magazine sucksass!

Cheers!

Ok I want to bitch about something. So if you don't want to hear bitching... this might be a good day not to read my journal. Don't worry , I'll still love you smile

So I don't care if people are vegan or not. Ok that's not entirely true, for the sake of animals, I would certainly like it if everyone happened to be vegan. But...

Hi! I stumbled across you from Miharus place :-) Like you I really dont care if people are vegan or carnivore or whatever either :-D

But...If you really were interested in an answer to your question...I wonder if the source of Why do people feel the need to be total ass monkeys about the fact that I and various other people DO CARE? might depend on the presentation of And why when someone tries to explain reality to them do they deny it? Not just say I dont give shit, but deny it?

I think that makes people defensive, because they may not be in denial...but may not actually agree with the facts. Having been raised in Montana, and having known many people involved with cattle and chicken ranches...and also having seen the PETA videos...most of what I saw in the PETA videos is actually illegal. Meaning, if a ranch operated that way, they would pay fines and/or be shutdown.

I mean, I dont eat much meat for health reasons...but I have no issue with it. Now, my choice when I eat meat is free range over standard corporate...for both health and I do think the animals are much better treated...but if you were telling someone who eats meat Its OK to be in denial. and Its OK that you just dont care what happens to animals. ...I mean, are you really surprised they get defensive :-)

Just thoughts :-D
vegangirl:
For the record-

I would never call someone an ass monkey to thier face. Since I have yet to have one of these encounters with someone on SG I don't consider this journal entry really saying it to their face.

I'm not actually surprised that people are defensive and I fully understand that sometimes things sound preachy when they are not meant to be. I also grew up on a cattle ranch 0 on of those last few where the cattle actually do run free (until, of course, they are killed) and I know a lot of the shit in PETA videos is illegal -- that's part of the point is that regulations don't do what they are meant to do.

I would not ever say that or anything like it: Its OK to be in denial. and Its OK that you just dont care what happens to animals. What I don't like is when I've known someone for awhile and then one day they offer me a cheeseburger. And I say "no thanks" and they say "why" and I say "cause I'm vegan, but thanks for offering" and they say "OMG YOUR VEGAN? Why didnt you tell me? Why are you vegan? Do you get enough protein? You like cant eat ANYTHING? Are you one of those PETA wackos? OMG thats so WEIRD!!!"

Curiosity I can handle, defensive even I can handle, rude I cannot handle.

Will someone please tell me, I mean give me a good hard lecture, on how lame I am for stressing out about getting B's this semester. Sure I want to get into law school but its really not an excuse for being neurotic right?

Stop it. You are twenty-fucking-one. The least of your worries in 5 years will be that you got B's a semester in college. Be young while you can still be young.

pearldiver:
Probably way past the point, but all b's? That is a 3.0! Not too bad at all! But I can say it is possible to worry yourself so much that is affects your health. Years ago, I had a botany class, and the lab teacher was so paranoid about people cheating we had to use cover sheets and crap! At a State University!!That (and I guess me) caused me a great deal of trouble and anxiety. Not exactly directly related to your problem, but for what it is worth: If that is the worst you do, that is better than fine. Next semester you probably will do better. Quit fuckin' worrying!!
