ON RECOGNITION

He opens the door and walks in. Thick black jacket, slim fingers and too much facial hair. Small eyes. Goes straight to the counter; "Do you have any more purple licorice? Yeah, that. du Maurier king size." He's my least favourite, so far. Always smells a little too heavily of cigarette smoke. Never makes eye contact. He's curt and throws his coins on...

How to fight loneliness..

Go shopping. Buy lovely black "dolly" shoes with pink and white polka-dot lining, and a pleated blue & green plaid skirt!

Today was my day off from both work and school, so I went downtown with A. and looked at fancy china cookware and expensive clothes. We breathed in the heavy city air- a brief respite from the rain here only...

I wonder if my basement suite will flood if this rain keeps up as forecasted. It seems like the type of house- you know, an old one- that would. And intuition keeps nagging me.

Today was remarkably lovely. I turned on the Weakerthans, made the best spaghetti of ever, cleaned, and better acquainted myself with everyone's good friend Plato. Opened the windows.

Mondays and Thursdays...

Yikes! That doesn't sound good! For your sake, I really hope it doesn't!

That sounds like a lovely day. The other night, for me, it was Depeche Mode "On NIght In Paris" dvd, that comic "Unlikely" I mentioned in my journal, and some soy corn dogs. It was quite blissfull. smile

That picture of the stairway is really neat. Kinda spooky (I enjoy spooky).

And YES - I loved it! It was so funny. The zombies were really well-done too, I thought. A great movie.

They had to go into the vegetable protection program on account of some maniac trying to cut them up and put them in his food.

The vegetable protection facility is located in my belly. It's safe and cozy in there for them.

Here's a list, just for you.

I like:

Pesto on foccacia bread. Antony & the Johnsons. Being in bed, wrapped in fleece blankets, with my computer. Only having five minutes of work left, and that feeling that clicks in when I know I get to go home soon. Watching funny movies with my roommate. Having pretty lips and eyes. Being complimented on my red vinyl...

If you need to tell them I'll trade them a thing of Almond Roca for it.

I sure will. And it sure is. If you're not applying for those things, you sure should.

Nothing funny or exciting or interesting ever happens to me. Well, sometimes they do (see previous journal).

So, in light of being mopey and irritable for the better part of two days, I'm going to post an entry based entirely around me being an emo schmuck.

These are the things I would like, please.

Cook food in a beautiful kitchen with me. Read to me in my cave of a bedroom while I play with your hair. Hug me when you see...

Oh, yeah, sweet and cute and stuff. Worth the cootie risk for sure. I think the cootie infection rate drops considerably when the cootie carrier happens to be cute.

Looked down at my knees today while standing at the bus stop, and realized that they were turning shades of blotchy purplish-blue with hints of red poking through. Apparently it's winter, and maybe I should start wearing pants instead of skirts with legwarmers and knee socks. Oh biology, you seem to win every round!

Now that nearly all of the snow has melted, I find...

Yesterday, as a friend of mine was driving me home, we started talking about work, family, and the nagging theme of obligation. He is thirty-four, has owned several houses in his lifetime, is married, and just recently had a son. I was trying to imagine this sort of life- a life where I am not only making decisions that directly concern myself, but another being...

[Saccharine dreams of folded eyelash papers and wispy birds in flight. Icicle brainwaves on windblown nights. Curbstomping emotion down to the core; I ask but it's not best to know. Illumination is being covered from forehead to ankle in thin sheets of form-fitting gold. Not everything is easily condensed into stories. A symbol can never be what it represents.]

This, this I cannot trace.

You HAVE to watch "Return Of The Living Dead"! It's a must! And then, you really should watch the original Geroge Romero trilogy (Night Of Living Dead, Dwan of The Dead, Day Of The Dead). And then Lucio Fulchi's "Zombie".

And then there's Peter Jackson's "Dead Alive", which is awesome...and "Serpent & The Rainbow", for a more authentic look at zombies... and, of course, "28 Days Later", for a modern take.

...Okay, I'll shut up now... smile

Classes don't seem as though they're going to be all that bad this semester. I'm currently in the process of trying to arrange my schedule so that I have class from 9:30am-1:30pm three days a week, leaving the rest of my week free to work. And play board games. And cook. And everything else that I usually do outside of school..

[The only analogy I...

Where we can wake to a new beginning.
Tomorrow I'll all but have lost their faces;
My friends and family,
Memories of all we had
And the times we should have lived,
And tomorrow America just might fall apart.
Tomorrow, tell me,
Where will you wake up?
Beyond title, beyond these careers and laws,
Something more than borders on a map...

And the sun's always...

I'm still really fucking cold, but I got the convenience store job today. I start in eight and a half hours. I'm kind of excited in a weinerbrained "I-hope-I-don't-hate-this-job" way.

Still haven't any food other than kidney beans, pasta, and granola. Grocery shopping is on the agenda for tomorrow afternoon. Anyone want to get groceries for me, come over to my house, and make us...

I've come to love some french sayings/spellings. I say ''zoot allures!" all the time. It's my favorite french thing.

I like urban photography a lot. Especially when it's a picture of something that's usually packed with people, but empty now. So you can see it for what it is. There's a huuuuuuge building in Detroit that is completely gutted. But if you're coming over the Windsor/Detroit Bridge during sunset, you can see straight through this huge building and look at the sun setting behind it. It's really something.

I've met more people through the internet then I have ever combined anywhere else ever combined ever!

I have a new place to live, scores of idealistic dreams for the future, a fixed bookshelf, sushi rice, a letter I cannot send, hopes to turn my entire bedroom into a fort with lights and a cardboard star and fleece blankets and art on the walls and a thousand pillows, a checkerboard cloth covering the desk my computer rests on, freezing cold fingers, a...
