It was high comedy, I tell you. I'm still laughing about it 24 hours later!

Good for you smile

Now, I don't think you're part of the industrial group on SG, so I'll re-post what I just wrote here. This album will blow your mind!

Standeg - Ultrahightechviolet (2008)

Bjorn and Sven Junemann, aka Standeg, are no strangers to the electro-industrial world. Having been involved in early incarnations of Haujobb, the Junemanns helped craft early Haujobb hits such as Homes and Gardens and Eye Over You and participated in the recordings of the classic albums Homes and Gardens and Freeze Frame Reality. A few years ago, the ground-breaking label Dependent Records placed Standeg songs on their influential Septic compilations, creating a buzz around Standeg unprecidented given the duo's small output.

UltraHighTechViolet is one of those releases that come along every few years to sweep us off our feet. Following in the tradition pioneered by the likes of Lassigue Bendthaus and X Marks the Pedwalk, and continued by Haujobb, Forma Tadre, and in more recent years Seabound and Headscan, the music of Standeg is cerebral, unique, and challenging. Tracks like 25 Hours grab you
right away with pulsating rhythms and catchy synthlines, while the slow brooding groove of Further Dose is perfect for a lazy afternoon and is as psychedelic as it is industrial. The album
also includes a special exclusive version of the Haujobb classic Homes & Gardens, a song that Standeg helped to write.

Unique in their sound but following in the tradition of a long history of excellent electronic-industrial, Standeg's music is a significant and surprising addition to your collection.

Holy flippity fuck, just when I thought I'd never be impressed again by any electro band...

THIS IS ESSENTIAL LISTENING. There are more ideas in this album than in 95% of the albums from current electro bands combined.

kinto:
I was sure you'd love it biggrin

Me, I ordered the CD right after the beginning of my second listen... I was that impressed. And it's worth it because the sound is much better on the CD. I totally love this album.

It's just been released, so I guess they may be touring in the near future, although you're much more likely to see them than I am here in the US...

Congratulations to America for choosing the right man for the job.

Yes, what a fucking relief. Glad to know that most of my tax money won't go towards kids being killed or traumatized for life in Iraq for 4 more years, pretty much for nothing except US oil and weapon companies' profit.
kinto:
On a totally different level, you should grab ohGr's new album. It's really good.

Right. Back working in the UK.

So now I'm looking for nights out in York and Leeds; trying to cling on to a certain lifestyle through geographic isolation and military prudishness.

I've pretty much come out of the Army closet as a Goth but it's hard to live it deeply. Know what I mean?

How are you all?

Leeds? You need to hit The Cockpit there. There's still a few SGUK peeps in there, and there will be a meet there in the new year, I think.
aesirr:
There are folks up Leeds way as I said in the thread on SGUK. I think there are 5 of us minimum in commutable distance of Leeds. I work at Leeds Met so I'm obviously there a lot.

Think I'm gonna summon a big Meet there for March. Mainly as it will be my Birthday!

By masquerading as my alias, Dot Product, I've just had enough time to squeeze in a little Nine Inch Nails Remix.

Hope you like it. xT

That's what I like about you Huw: even though you have your new-found respectability, you haven't lost your sense of random wink

The sound of driving around alone at night with some ambient music playing is enough to make me wish I could drive. Honestly, that's a first - I usually settle for public transport!
sweetnepenthe:
hopefully just the one "he likes me"

Once in a golden hour
I cast to earth a seed.
Up there came a flower,
The people said, a weed.
To and fro they went
Thro' my garden-bower,
And muttering discontent
Cursed me and my flower.

Then it grew so tall
It wore a crown of light,
But thieves from o'er the wall
Stole the seed by night;

Sow'd it far and wide
By every town and tower,
Till all the people cried,
'Splendid is the flower.'

Read my little fable:
He that runs may read.
Most can raise the flowers now
For all have got the seed.

And some are pretty enough,
And some are poor indeed;
And now again the people
Call it but a weed.

Hey!! Happy birthday!!

Packing up for a move to Germany and assumption of command of a troop. Got a house near York / Leeds for when the Reg. moves in October.

None of this before a jolly to Tenerife, of course.
