"And in the element of darkness
The starlight shimmers on the spray And falls towards you
Your perfect lover's never there
And if she was, she wouldn't be -- and neither, though, would you"
-Airscape by Robyn Hitchcock
That song reminds me of one of the last really good times I spent with my ex, K, before everything imploded. It was probably five years ago....

"The red bells beckon you to ride
a handprint on the driver's side
it looks a lot like engine oil,
and tastes like being poor and small
and popsicles in summer."
-Deep Red Bells by Neko Case
I just picked up Blacklisted by Neko Case. I can't praise it enough. Her sensibility has been described as Southern Gothic; that does capture part of her sound....

I'll have to check her out
Thanks

I love Neko Case... I saw her (and her boyfriends...
open for Nick Cave. A perfect compliment.
Not quite as dark as Neko, I'm currently obsessed with Lucinda Williams... she can write one helluva song!

"Inside the package, Waldo was so transfixed with
excitement that he could barely breathe. His skin
felt prickly from the heat and he could feel his heart
beating in his throat. It would be soon."

This morning I awoke to the most amazing gift: mark sent me himself... via email. *smile* Luckily there was no chance for errant gift...

Cabinetmaker, eh? I've been fantasizing about that lately. I think I should start off with some sort of woodworking class to try it out. The idea appeals to me. My only indication that I might be ok was that although I had disciplinary issues in Home Ec, I rocked Shop
Hmm I'm sure you could do quite well with that niche. Yeah, celebrity buzz is probably the way to go.
*peeks at your lower back* Dimples!
*sits on hands*

"I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
you were talking so brave and so sweet,
giving me head on the unmade bed,
while the limousines wait in the street."

I worked in 'retention sales'... which, from a corporate point of view, is hostage negotiation. It's when a customer has FINALLY had it and is about to cut off the company's feeding tube into their credit card. Or when one of those poor 90 year old people who signed off on the two dollar check they got in the mail thinking it was a refund, and have been signed up for the last 5 years to a travel service they've never used, and charging their credit card $80 a year.
Enter me. Retention sales. Talk the customer out of cancelling. Promise them something from list A and list B. Yes, we know it's a crock of excrement, but it's your job. HATED it there.
Thanks for your kind words on my journal

Retention sales? You sir, are hardcore. I am merely a dabbler.
UPANDATTAM!
Listening to mark sing. I wish I had more of his stuff. :/ His music makes me feel so many things at once. I would be happy to know he was working on his music again. I think the boy will not be happy until he does. I will have to guide him back to it I guess *smiles*

Hi Trixel. Thanks for your kind feedback on my SB set. Controlling anger takes a lot of will power. On the other hand, being in charge/leadership is all in the person and especially what you are comfortable with.

It's taken me 35 years to realize that you can be strong and soft at the same time.
Anger? I used to channel my anger into dancing, and sublimate it under progressively sillier layers of chemicals. Now, it feels like it's finally dissolving or becoming something else. My anger could be the key to my creativity
I guess I'll find out as my years of sobriety continue.

I've been wanting to journal for awhile. What better place than surrounded by nudity? mmmm nudity.
I'm looking forward to the snow finally melting here. It snowed again last night
