You can't worry about all the homeless. It's a hopeless endeavor. Some are, kind of the way you described it, that way because they got left behind. But I'd say that the grand majority are the way they are because they have no other option. People who didn't graduate from high school, people who's first job was stamping liscense plates in prison. And let's not forget the obviously insane.

I'll take pity even on these wretched souls every now and again but I'm not going to drive myself crazy worrying about what camp they come from.
