You may have crushed the nerve endings in your finger, which means they are no longer functioning, which means you will feel no pain now because the receptors are not working correctly.
As far as your finger, what was said above is possible. Sometimes the nerve endings will regenerate, sometimes they don't. I'll have to check out this CP ad so I can see who we'll have to kill while we're there.

I would LOVE to go on a road-trip. I've never actually done that before. I've always been tempted to just drive and get lost and see everything that exists while finding my way home. But...I have GPS now...haha...so getting lost is virtually impossible.
