I never should have bought MAC lipstick. I was perfectly happy with my cheap drugstore lipstick, and then I had to go and buy some gorgeous red lipstick from MAC and now I know I can never go back.

Apparently I really like Good Riddance. I've been listening to this one cd for days. Before that it was a Cephalic Carnage cd. Perhaps I'm just...

That reminds me of a girl I know that can't help but always pick the most expensive thing in the store, not really because she likes expensive things, it just always seems to turn out that way tongue

So I've been reading this book that Corsair gave me about the Irish Troubles. It's really interesting. It's sort of a look at the different personalities that make up the IRA, what makes people join, how their membership has affected the lives of their loved ones. The author, Kevin Toolis, tries hard to be objective and not make the Loyalists out to be monsters or...

Her name is Domiana. I've seen her on other Goth Sites.

Google her name, you'll probably find all kinds of pictures of her.

i don't believe.

i don't do this thing they call believing.

belief means you've made up you're mind. belief requires no evidence. sometimes belief intentionally contradicts evidence.

i find belief restrictive and troubling.

i chose a different method.

evaluating evidence. deciding if the evidence seems reasonable. asking. realizing what is impossible to know. not choosing what to think forever. observing.

does this make me an...

In some sense what I wrote there is a triviality.

Will I take strawberry or chocolate ice cream? would be an example...

But there is a more important class of questions which I find are not neccesarily best dealt with rationaly. The could be called the questions of life.
How do I live my life right?
Do I truely love her?
Why is he hurting so much?

These are the questions pertaining us as humans, as individuals.
Asking these questions is what makes us human.
And the answers we find to these questions are what most marks us as individuals.

It is a personal experience for me that my rationality failed me with many of these questions. Evidence and rationality still provide a framework within which these questions are asked and answered, but it's been a personal experience of mine that rationality ultimately failed me there.
In it's place I would put awareness: Awareness of your self as in conciousness, and awareness of others as in empathy.

There is a remarkable book dealing with this: "The first Man" by Albert Camus. It's an autbiographical novel and unfortunately unfinished but still extremely powerfull. He says of himself that he was a monster for trying to live through rational understanding.

Actually the California Republic flag was designed in 1846, before the USSR and People's Republic of China started using red star imagery. It became the official state flag in 1911. The red star is a symbol of independence cribbed from the Republic of Texas. Here's the whole story.

We've moved into a garage that's in a much more convenient location. I like it a lot....

I guess in food your options are limited. I used to work at a jewelry store in a mall. At first I hated it. After a few weeks and into the holiday shopping season I began to see it as a game. "This guys is a jackass, I am going to try and sell him this uglier piece that is twice as expensive."

Most people are pretty dumb, and it's easy to be politely condescending. Like complimenting atrocious aspects of someone's persona. That way, they are encouraged to continue acting/dressing like a complete tool. Sure, it's unfair to the next poor soul who has to deal with them, but if you try to save the world one person at a time, you're in for a mental breakdown fo sho.
