Last night, on my way to Fenton, I was pulled over by Novi PD. Why, you ask? My exhaust was "too loud". Ahh, the old subjective noise test...

'How old is this truck?"

"'67."

"It's had the same muffler since 1967?"

"No, they're glasspacks. I've replaced them a few times."

"Ahh. You ever been pulled over for your muffler before?"

"Mufflers? No."

"What else then?"...

Today I will make soup. smile A good end to a great weekend.

{update time}

Okay, four folks asked what kind of soup I made today. Well, I had a bone-in ham for dinner last night, so of course one should not let a good soup bone go to waste. wink

My problem remains: beans or lentils?

The soup-making has been delayed until I can figure out...

I'm perusing the PDF version of the 11th Annual Safest City and Safest Metropolitan Area Awards, produced by Morgan Quitno of Lawrence, KS.

Rather interesting reading. Here are some snippets of the 354 Cities & 320 Metro Areas they sampled (with rounded 2003 City of population):

Flint, MI--325/354, 277/320 (122,000)

Cleveland, OH--335, no metro area listed (550,000)

Detroit, MI--353, 320 {Detroit/Livonia/Dearborn MSA} (928,000)

Rochester,...

I actually plan on doing an in depth study of the book of Romans coming up here real soon. For a book that is supposed to spell out God's law it sure is chock full of a bunch of riddles. It's almost written as if it were meant to confuse people.

And of course like yourself people love to quote it out of context wink
_sarah_:
*laughing*

Excellent point.

You should have heard the cry of triumph when I finally learned Ann Arbor's streets. Then I had to laugh every time I thought about the best way to get somewhere -- it's always so tricky and silly. It never makes any sense.

Some of them are two-way now. You should have seen me freak out when I realized State and Liberty had opened up to two-way traffic. I still can't make myself drive east on Liberty near the State Theatre. I turn onto Thompson out of habit. tongue

SYH has returned from the Mistake-on-the-Lake to the City of Minimalls, Industrial Parks, and the Ford Plant.

He's tired.

Happy, but tired. smile

And out of cereal.

That, my love, was a BEAUTIFUL pun, and I laughed even harder when I pictured you rolling your eyes. biggrin

I think Flint is bigger than Saginaw, so it is probably in a different category.
It is dorky, but we used to say:
You can't drive past Midland without growing a tail,
past Bay City without catching a disease,
or past Saginaw without catching a bullet.

A lot of people die in Saginaw from lead poisoning. It's not from the water...

I loved the fish out of the Saginaw River. They would glow in the dark!! puke

In two days _Xena_, Panzermensch, and myself trek to Cleveland to help Stirfry celebrate 32 years on this planet.

Rest assured, one of us will be passed out half on the porch, half on the sidewalk. wink

Since posting lyrics seems to be the thing to do, I've decided to jump on the bandwagon (ooo...a pun... biggrin ):

They were fighting for land in...

The biggest, baddest Unlimited air cannon had a barrel length of 143' and was assembled on-site since it was too long to get a highway permit, even with police escort.

It shot a pumpkin nearly a mile. Probably a full mile, but that's well into the woods at the end of the field, and if you can't find 'em in two hours it dosen't count...

Oh, we're past that one too. biggrin Well, maybe not. He's been gone for five years... in prison... oh wow. DAMN. Yeah. I think ... wow... that's going to be fun.

Why didn't I think of "dogs in heat"? I'm normally so good at this. Maybe I'm tired.

I'm babbling again. Fuckin' 'ell.
_sarah_:
You may be right. I'm acting like a goddamn thirteen-year old.

To make that even worse, I'm wearing his senior key pendant on a chain around my neck (under my shirt). Why?

Because I don't have his class ring, so I can't put that on the chain. blush

And how exactly shoudl I prove it?

There is not exactly a lot of tech on that floating around the internet... and I do not really feel liek expending the rest of my life searching for facts to porvemyself right to you....

I know it is true because that is what the origional tennant of my shop did and their anchor pots are still in the floor, when we first checked out our shop they where in the process of repairing a boom.

Minbd you it is not a simple pull and done wiht it procedure, in many cases they have to notch the boom to allow it to straightne correctly, then the gusset and reinforce the repair.

It is very much like repairing a material bucket on a loader.

Wow, it's Armistice Day again. It seem's like it was just a few weeks ago I was kicking old school at the big A party. Where did the year go?

I now hear the sweet call of "quack" whenever I do something wrong on my computer. biggrin

OS X is nice, yes, but its error sounds leave much to be desired.

Hooray for the Wild Eep, Quack, and Bip! love

In other news, I have another toolbox. Now that I have some extra space, I need to get more tools to fill those drawers.

Are you somehow under the impression I am NOT a professional?

My methods are not shadetree in the slightest... when a multi-million dollar crane is bent they use the same method to straighten it, anchor it to the floor and then use jacks and porta power pullers to straighten it. The most complex measurement they take is with a tape measure.

Gi\uys like Stiles and the rest of the "pros" are why nobody does their own work these days and people are so afraid to dig into their car, because so called pros who need ot keep their ego inflated feel the need to preach that all of what they do is so hard and percise and if you don;t hand it over to a pro you are goign to die, kill a bus load of nuns and get sued... this is CRAP, pure and simple.
