sweetbutch asked:
why do you like avocados?

because they're creamy & savory/sweet at the same time. awesome with raw peanut butter!!

and how are buddhism and christianity alike in your mind?

most of the Ten Commandments are based on loving thy neighbor & making correct causes based on wisdom and compassion -- similar to the buddhist philosophy of Cause & Effect: right action, thought, words create effects in proportion to whether causes were made of a pure & sincere mind/heart vs. causes made from greed, anger, hunger, animality.

i'm no buddhist scholar, so that is just my humble dos centavos. smile

...and a good Tuesday evening to you, Sweetbutch! aw, i do love trees... it's one of the many reasons my heart & soul are still in Washington state. smile

the journey you described above ^ sounds magical & healing.

wishing you many happy night-dusk... twilight-evening happyness-es! kiss

I work construction. You know how important that is? People depend on me.... No, seriously, he is Columbus's greatest export. We saw his show at the Ohio Theater in Cols., supporting "Tomorrow's Sounds Today" (late 90s?), and he was downstage signing yearbooks and high school programs. Apparently everybody there had gone to school either with him or his cousins. Readin', writin', Rt. 23... I got to columbus via the north, rather than up by way of Ky, but only because my dear momma overshot columbus on her way up and I had to come back... so I too am claimin' kin....

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate the Third Way perspective, and try to see the situation in similar terms as much as possible. My post comes from a place where all that seems futile, but I don't live in that place all the time....

Nice post! The video definitely gives me mixed feelings (especially the image of the tranny getting jumped at the end). It's hopeful and touching but still kind of pathetic and sad. I can't help thinking somebody in Hollywood is going to exploit this--it's like a John Waters re-visioning of "The Longest Yard" or something.

Film:

Finally watched Don't Need You. Sad to say I think this was made on a budget of $10. It wasn't as expansive as I'd hoped-it seemed as soon as you were getting to the "meat" of the story's purpose, holy shit it ended. Oh well, the nostalgia was nice. frown

You're Gonna Miss Me was amazing. I even recommended it to my shrink. I think about it every day.

I don't think I saw anything else "current"...the last River Phoenix, The Thing Called Love was very, very cute.

Finally watched Amelie (I've owned it forever) and fell in love. I am Amelie, btw.

The Machinist was GREAT. I was really surprised and totally like, jarred by how hot Jennifer Jason Leigh is. Wow.

I have to cancel my Flix tonight due to questionable finances, I think. Oh well. I have Dirty Pretty Things & Match Point on deck right now.
