baraka really is a beautiful film. i don't usually buy movies, but it's definitely one i'd like to own.
i miss nw winters - particularly out on the coast. i love how the clouds blend seamlessly with the ocean horizon and everything seems ethereal and dreamlike. very beautiful. it's beautiful here in colorado, too, but in a different way - snow fills the cracks in the red rock cliffs, icicles hang from trees, and the clouds hang around the waist of the mountain.
Tatum had a few dragonfly pics last i checked, btw...

Glad to see that the mood has lightened, although you're pretty darn cute when you're angry.
So I've heard.
Alright, so I haven't heard, it's just a guess.
Mind you, an uneducated guess. A conjecture if you will.
I'll just shutup now. ;P

I tend to keep my anger in; I do the same thing, I turn it on me, but you know that gets us nowhere....
I dunno. the other thing I do when I'm angey is cry. I hate being angry, and I'm mad at whomever for making me feel that way, and I'm mad at myself, and I just cry.
I dunno, I gotta get it out- even when it's yucky stuff, I gotta acknowlege it, or it starts to rot--
you know like in rage against the machine-
anger is a gift-
but becareful, fire is a gift too, in winter....
my sister and I both do the thing where your REALLY slow to actually loose your temper [mine takes much longer than hers] but then bang! f+ck you, and the horse you road in on, out comes the get-the-f+ck-out -of-my-way anger thing.
we grew up with my dad, who was the king of inapropriate, disproportionate, where the hell did that come from anger. [now he's in aa and on psych meds-- he's a heck of a lot happier]
so we have this shame of anger- fear of being like him thing.
anyway. unacknowleged anger I think turns into depression. and if your like me and prone to that, it can be a big problem.
I dunno. lalalalala.
I'm eating dried mangos and they are very happy making. I'm glad you like my live journal stuff- I can get very self conscious about stuff, but ya know sometimes ya just gotta own up and be.
It's been really good forme to write that stuff down as a way to think about it.
*big big hugs for stari*
take care, I hope you're well,
this too shall pass
and all ot that.
fnord.

Note to self:
1. Don't raise wrath of starisea.
2. Finish reading Tom Robbins' novel.
3. Pick-up soy milk.
Got it. Now, if I could only find my coat.

Ah.. starisea. Just reading that broke my heart
I hate to think of you being sad.
massive *hugs* from me too.
I feel so impotent, being reduced to friendly words from my foolish avatar on a webpage. They're backed up with real thoughts from a real person.

I know! You should go to the SG show tomorrow in Portland!
Hmmm...!

Nice - Alexander Technique!!! I'm terribly jealous at your taking lessons! I had access to free lessons at my ol' music school... It was frequented by all of us carpal tunnel & tendonitis gimps. Lots of rolling on the ground, lots of examining how we hold, sit, position, pitch, strap-on & actually play our instruments. I'm happy to say I've been able to retain a lot of the performance aspects, really not much else.
PS - Happy to hear of your very fun time! Edited to make note of your lovely avatar, wouldn't expect less.

hey! alexander technique!!! I'm jealous too- I also had some lessons incollege, cause I studied dance. I love that internal body awareness- fine degree of awareness whatever. sooo coool!
cool avatar!
man I was only in portland once, but it seemed really cool. I stayed with my aunt outside of seattle in the summer of 1997 and went to u. washington summer school. I really dug seattle, which I saw a lot more of- 3 months- but portland was really nice when we drovw over there for the afternoon.
I thought it was so great in seattle that they had those bike racks on the buses- cool idea.
that's the extent of my northwest experience-- other than that I'm a lifelong north easter, travels excepted.

re: dj mix
argh! i thought i'd sent you this link, but i checked your last few entries and didn't see it. whoops. you can find it at djunderground - you may need to create an account. scroll down a bit and find "gostu - protoculture (disc 1)" - that's the one i was rabbiting on about. there's tons of other good mixes on the site, too.
enjoy the rain for me!

Watch your back for those angels.
Asking questions is never a bad thing, it's a compliment that you take an interest.
By the way, I am very familiar with the Cure, so no need for the 17 album treatment. I'm sure that I heard most of it when I saw them play in Hyde Park last summer. The witch I was dating at the time made me go (she had cast some very powerful love spells on me).

wow! a robert anton wilson documentry? wow! I'm entrigued!
I was trying to think of what's the difference between "haze" and "fog" the other day in the car- you know how when you think too long about a word it seems strange -- I guess haze is less than fog, and burns off, and maybe more positive in it's connotations- purple haze vs. purple fog.
yay caffeine!

Something about your entry made me smile. Perhaps the calm beneath the surface. Much appreciated this morning. As were the beautiful pics.
And there's a RAW documentary. Why didn't anyone tell me?

what I think of getting out of yoga ideally is meditation, a hieghtened conciousness of my body/mind -- more concentration, calmness.
but that stuff is sooo hard! and like awareness "thinking"/mental processes while doing sitting meditation buddhist style, I tend to forget that that is what I'm doing -- watching, and get carried away with the aversions/desires/torpor, the whole kit and caboodle process of sitting there going F+ck my arms really hurt in this pose, or crap, I think I'm going to fall over.
and then I get that momet of - wow that was a really unserene thought/,moment and feel terrible about my lowliness as a spiritual being instead of just noting it and moving on.....
I like iyengyar yoga alot-- though I only know it from books- they have a klot of "restorative " type poses included in there stuff-- like supported back bends over a chair/bench/ poses supported with bolsters.
It's hard for me to pinpoint but I think the thing that irks me about bikram classes ultimately is their lack of creativity-- the poses are always always the same, and there isn't alot of room for adjustment. plus, `it might be sour grapes since I can't afford them.
I've decided to try and write about the internal intoverted world more. I find I have this barrier to describing the inner layers of things-- first there is the dificulty in communicating these things-- like zen- can you really say it in words? Then there is the whole non-touching family background I come from, and our social inheritance as cultural descendants of the puritans- We tend to ignore the body-- as much as we can.
maybe this will make for boring nonsense writing, maybe very solipsistic stuff. I dunno.
anyway,
we have blah weather too. The road was a sheet of Ice when I came home from work this morning. and the whole dark at 4:20 thing. What is this norway?
