I get to go tour the maternity ward/birthing center at the hospital tomorrow. I don't know what to expect, but I'm excited.

In non-baby news, I've been working to revamp my portfolio and I'm almost done with it. I'm switching it almost totally over to digital work and hoping it's well received. I just have lost my desire to play with paint and chalk when...

I got your package! My boyfriend fell in love with the little blue outfit with the ribbon detail..it was cute watching him hold up the tiny little garment, going on about how adorable it is

It's kind of a silly little thing to get so excited about, but I ordered new business cards today. I have come to hate the old ones sooooo much and am thrilled to replace them! biggrin
g_whiz:
woot!

what are they like?

Errg! I just got shot down for a big job because I'm not a good church going Christian girl like they were looking for. They admittedly love my work, but don't like my values. Problem with that is my values are a non-issue in my work as it's pretty much all what other people have paid me to do and I'm professional enough not to...

Sue the bastards!

And then pull their emasculated sacks over their heads while chanting "Where's your god now, pilgrim?!"

Too much?

Was still really restless today and started feeling a bit of cabin fever, so I packed a picnic and the hubby and I drove up to the Port Royal/Paris Island area in South Carolina for lunch. It was a little chillier there than home, but it was a beautiful day. I love the drive up there. There is bridge after bridge between the islands up...

I just can't seem to get to sleep tonight. I've felt kind of restless all day and now I'm tired, but just can't lay still long enough to fall asleep.
g_whiz:
You must need more "exercise".

Well that seems like a Crime Against Nature. Or at the very least, a Crime Against Sphynx

*sigh* All my friends seem to have fallen off the face of the earth completely since the pregnancy really started showing. What the hell? Every time I talk to them the bulk of the conversation seems to be them trying to make me feel better about the fact that I'm having a kid, which irritates the crap out of me because I'm thrilled about it,...

Well they probably just can't relate. I don't guess there are that many girls your age that try to get knocked up.

On the other hand, they should at least make an attempt at being supportive. Bastards.

Not much going on lately. Work stuff is going smooth and uneventful, aside from getting a big article about one of my projects in one of the local papers. Other than that, things are running so easily and on schedule that it's almost boring. I suppose that's a good thing. It leaves me time to start on other things I've been wanting to do.

I'm...

Thanks so much for the info! I really appreciate it. I've heard so many great things about SCAD, but then I saw that it was ranked last by US News. It made me kind of nervous. I know that isn't the be all end all, but I'm glad to have a second opinion from someone who actually went there.

I'm actually applying to the Masters in the Art of Teaching program at SCAD. I have a BFA in Graphic Design from RISD, but I do love photographysmile

Thanks again!
missprint:
I definitely think the criteria on which they rank art schools is BS. RISD has been ranked #1 by US News and Princeton review for years. While I think it was a good school, they don't prepare you for the real world at all, and career services is virtually non-existent. I went back there with my company to recruit GD students. It's clear they still are not teaching them how to put together portfolios. And they still aren't teaching them how to use computers either!

SCAD is my #1, so I'm crossing my fingers. Unfortunately, they require a 15-20pg research paper. I didn't do one during my undergraduate, so I'm trying to write one now. It's not going so well. I still think it's a ridiculous requirement.

Thanks again for all of the info. I really do appreciate it. You also seem like you have a realistic outlook on SCAD. So many people have tried to discourage me from going to one school or another because they had a bad personal experience there. It's nice to get an impartial opinion.

Wow do some of the local laws here suck. I'm looking for a spot to have an event the lasts all night, and I'm finding my options seem to be limited to Waffle House and IHOP. Nothing else really will or can stay open! frown

It's a girl! A very active little girl. I wish I had video, not just the ultrasound pictures. She was moving around so much the tech could barely get the pictures.

Working at home is great until that moment you realize that it's really less always at being at home and more always being at work.

What kind of work do you do at home? I've tried a few work at home websites but none of them really owrked out for me for numerous reasons. I'd love to be able to make money from home since I stay home with my baby all day.
