Hey, it's emotedcreations, they won't let me have my old name back 'cause I can't remember my password and my old email has long since expired.  Hope you remember me!

Unintended consequences...
Fascinating, that a monoculture produces another monoculture. It doesn't seem surprising, when one thinks about it, though.

Hey SP. Thanks. I'm alright. The lady is alright. We've kinda been preparing for this for a long time. I mean, it's sad, but it's not unexpected.

I went to high school with a fella named Ian Drury. That isn't him though.

Incidentally, my sister is living in Ireland, and I'm planning to visit her sometime in the next year or so. If I were to plan a side trip to pay you a visit, roughly where would I be planning a side trip to, and would you be amenable? PM me.

bass FTW . No idea about the video; didn't watch it. My bad, I expect.

"Child" has no gender. Or shouldn't have. But this came as a surprise.

I have spent the evening physically destroying backups; mostly mine. I think I got a few which belonged to my ex.

It's curious how bits of media - often functionally intact - seem to slide away when you're not looking.

I wonder if in a few hundred years people will be able to recover CDs. They say the shelf life isn't that long...

Even on my current hard drive I probably have the odd folder that havsn't been accessed since I was a teenager.

redheadedleague:

The other day I was cleaning out some binders at work, in which we used to store installation media for our old software (required to do so by regulations.) I opened one, and a creaky old 3.5" floppy fell out. It was like finding a dinosaur bone.

I'm not likely to use the three months on my other account, either. Like I said, not fun any more.

Five years here. Most of it seems like a waste.

I like this. Everything about it cheers me up. Except the video, I didn't watch that.
tiger_fodder:

I like it too. smile

remuemenage:

you are a veritable font of musical wonderment

I just picked up the Vulgar Boatmen on Rhapsody - which is my electronic music source

sort of like Itunes, but I pay a subscription to get access to all the music in the Rhapsody catalogue to use on three players (two mp3 players and my computer)

I can't burn it to disc and distribute the music - I can only listen, which works out well for me

sorry for the poetry - I know it's not your bag

and I hope you are well

They fire Wil Wheaton and now that guy is writing "Culture" columns? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck...

hunkpapa:

Yeah, the drumming on The Saints Are Coming in particular is great. I turned up my bass for Into The Valley, but I struggled to make it out, to be honest. I expected better from my speakers, they're normally pretty good. Anyway, thanks for the tips!

I moved desks, at work. Bad idea...

Fuck. I hate these people. I especially hate one of them: loud, arrogant, relentlessly cynical and offensive, all of it on purpose. Indispensable, unfortunately.

I dunno... he cycles to work, on the same route I drive. Usually we're not on the road at the same time. I think I should work on ensuring that we aren't.
