I know the meteors have been around forever, but the Cramps get my vote for psychobilly originators. IF none of the bands they covered songs from deserve it, which they do. Hasil Adkins comes to mind. Brit accent is good for a lot, but not so much for psychobilly imho.

Actually, they appear to have gotten here HELLA early. It's this Weds. through Saturday. I'm on registration all day Weds (first day) so maybe I'll run into them. Gots to go. A friend from out of town came in with his wife (she's got a seminar/software con thing) and it looks like I'll be entertaining him during the day for much of the week. Which is cool, but it'd be cooler if there wasn't something else major going on, ya know?

Probably I'll take him down to Fremont St today. I want to try and figure out where they're having the street bouts down there. Funny thing is the challenges are happening down there, while the open scrimmages are happening on our much nicer outdoor practice court (roller hockey court the county parks dept owns) that we've even held bouts on. It will be fun seeing thousands of surprised tourists happening by a derby bout or three.
