I, like a lot of other people, tend to google old friends and lost acquaintances in idle moments of internet access. I think of it as benign stalking. It allows all of the feel-good aspects of connection with none of the effort or downsides. You don't have to worry about timezones or being remembered out of context, or the awkwardness of past slights. There's no... Read More
It was a pleasure seeing you again last night. You have a wonderful family. And yes, voluntary digital amputation for money will be the wave of the future.
So, I was cleaning up and reshelving CDs (which I generally am too lazy to do until I've got about fifty sitting on the floor) and I came across not one but two disks that I completely forgot I bought.
A while back I broke the doorbell working on the kitchen (yes, the bell part of the doorbell is in the kitchen, I don't know why), and just finally got around to fixing it. When it was all put back together I plugged it in and decided to... Read More
I'm going to be dropping off for a few weeks. I got way the hell too much going. I got two tests, a giant lab project, and a lit search for research advisor to do. If you provide a email address I will forward reference material for my assertions.
So there was a taco truck set up in front of my neighbors' house this morning.
I live on a residential street. There are no apartment buildings, office buildings, schools or construction sites remotely nearby. Of the local business that might patronize them , half are taquerias.
Captive audience: bored stay-at-home moms, kids playing hooky and getting high at home, the unemployed. Niche marketing to people who may have nothing better to do than eat, and they might be using aggressive Starbucks style tactics to compete with the established taquerias. And of course, when the market bottoms out around 3 in the afternoon, they just move locations.
I have too many pet projects too worry about these things like the debates on this One thing I'm sheparding along with hopes for grad school is to employ design and engineering techniques as well as the mechanisms and materials that go into photomultiplier tubes to develop more powerful photovoltaic cells. I don't have to come up with something that will be practical for a utility company. All it has to do is be cost effective for small and medium sized manufacters, large scale white collar employers and retail establishments among others. Wind turbines have a tendency to be cruel to flying animals especially it seems, bats. I have some supporting material on that. There is a plant nearby in Carthage Mo that is converting chicken offal into fuel oil along the lines of biodiesel. That doesn't get around the soot released from combustion. My main point of contention with the environmental movement is that almost all it seems are into organismal biology and wildlife conservation. There seem to be very few pursuing the avenues that I am.
Just so you know I have asthma and hate coal fired powerplants. Conservation and efficiency will only take us so far. I'd rather put my time and energy into something like above.
What's the deal with Judicialwatch.com? One of my brother's boorish, pompously right-wing knuckle dragging friends cites anti-kerry info from that site all the time, and i'd like to kick the legs out from under him as efficiently as possible.
I tried loading it, but it tends to timeout when transferring from the front page, which contains no information.
