I am simultaneously amazed and horrified that it is already November. My perception of time was that it used to move slower than it does now, and I can't quite explain why.
The Prestige is likely the best movie that I've seen all year, and I've seen quite a few. Much better than Saw III, which was a bit disappointing -- especially the ending.

I took the day off today to attend the Annual General Meeting of my First Nation. I thought it started in the morning, but that was incorrect, it starts this afternoon. It's refreshing to be wearing 'nice' clothes for a change. Working at a U-Vin winery means I'm wearing a lot of jeans, old khakis, and non-emblazoned t-shirts almost all the time.
Other than that,...

What's the U-Vin winery? I've never heard of it
Took my little bro to see Jet Li's Fearless. It's easily the best Jet Li movie that I've seen to date, but after looking at his film history I've not seen quite a few.

Just thought I'd update to confirm my existence.
I had a flat tire two days ago, it sucked, but my bro let me borrow his new/my old car.
Rediscovered a few of my old CDs, I must say that I still like Pearl Jam's Vitology.

I'm not entirely certain I like the new format for the site, but I'm not in charge, so what can I do about it but bitch here, right?
Anyway, my days off are Sunday and Monday, so today is my Friday. I'm glad I have these two days off, as I'm more than a bit tired for no good reason.

But sometimes it feels good to bitch about things.
I used to really enjoy have mondays off, a day when I could get everything done while everyone else was at work.
I ended up ditching Turtledove's Legion of Videssos for a non-fiction book by Resa Aslan called No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam. I'm about half-way through the book now, and it's eye-opening. Easily the best book I've yet read about the Islamic world (and I've read The Middle East by Bernard Lewis) because of the way it's written and...

I finished reading The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson, and it was, indeed, an awesome book. To be honest, I think it's the longest novel that I've read at somewhere between 720 and 750 pages. Not massive, but large enough that it threw off how long I thought it'd take me to read.

So I got a new job working at a "brew it yourself" winery. It's interesting learning about wines and such, and the job is (currently) more engaging than my old one. I also enjoy the fact that I'm a part of a process that actually creates something, rather than providing vague services that amount to something, but nothing as actual as a bottle of wine....

Even though I already own about four of the songs already on it, I still believe I made the right choice in purchasing Massive Attack: Collected. It's excellent for more office drudgery.
Inside Man was worth seeing, so much that I'm seeing it again today because an old friend and my little brother have yet to see it.

I forgot how much I appreciate Radiohead; Mr. Yorke is helping me get through some boring clerical duties...
Ultraviolet was lackluster; I'd wait for the DVD.

Well, if you're ever down Victoria way, drop me a note and let me buy you a beer (or whatever other beverage happens to suit you).

I saw Radiohead many years ago and remember them ending the show with a version of "nobody does it better" and the lead singer saying it was his alltime favorite song. It is strange to think about because this was so long ago that I was arriving at the end of their show for the rave that was beginning afterwards.
Oh you like John Stewart. I
him! The Oscars were amazing and I couldn't believe there was any doubt of his success there.
People who don't like him just don't get it!

If you've yet to see George Clooney's Good Night and Good Luck, I would say that you should see it. I'm not certain if the theatre ambience will make a difference, but it certainly didn't hurt my experience. The film's black and white style added to the mood and the acting was superb, especially by David Strathairn who played Edward R. Murrow. I enjoyed...

Like more than a few people I know, I am stricken with the inability to form my own opinions on several important things. Most of them have to do with "trivial" things like whether I like this music or that movie, and so and so forth, other things I am currently reticent to write or speak about right now. I think one of the results...
