this sucks...it's one of those rare times when being single really blows. My friend, a guy I work with, his wife died saturday (she was also a friend) It was very sudden. The worst part of it, is he was in Afghanistan when it happened. His 3 kids (who I know) lost their mother and their father was on the other side of the planet....

That's so heartbreaking to hear. When my guy was overseas, in Afghanistan/Iraq, I was constantly worried that i'd get that knock on the door from uniformed men, informing me that he had been killed. I can't even imagine how your friend must have felt when he found out-- Usually, it happens the other way around in those situations. Still, it doesn't hurt any less.
