I really need to update this thing more often...

My Futurama Magnets arrived this morning and they look fab, they are in the style of 1920's futurist propaganda art and will no doubt impress any geeky ladyfriends who come to visit!

Anyway, i've written 2,000+ words of my dissertation and it's looking good, i've just got to write some Bordieu and Foucault into it and...

Oh plathandpinter you do know that in some alternate universe (or rather, iteration of the multiverse as you like it) we have white picket house and a potato for a pet. smile

Yar, I'm not too interested in Freud, I was just thinking a bit about how dream symbolism might work with how I've been feeling lately. WWI trauma, eh? Bust out some Wilfred Owen & the Couvoisier... mmm... or rather, not mmm...

Yes, we are destined for some lovely Lynchian future. You can be Betty and I can be Rita. Or, rather, I will be Dorothy and you will be Frank... or Kyle McLachlan, whichever one swings your boat. biggrin *fluffs a bit*

Todays journal will be entirely written in Nadsat. (the dialect from Clockwork Orange).

I just thought i'd add a shocking comment.

Out of my group of close partying friends in my Masters Sociology class (about 8 to ten people), one is having a baby against her boyfriends wishes and TWO have had abortions! Bear in mind that this is since last November and you see how irresponsible even geeks are! shockedshockedshockedshocked

Yeh, I haven't gotten inked just 'cos I feel like I'm such an indecisive person that anything I got done, I'd end up regretting... bah!

I didn't used to be broke! But then I squandered all my money.. sniff... ah. Those were the glory days, like two months ago. biggrin

Yah, ...trail did that w/ alcohol too, passed it around and were like "Hey, make sure everyone under 21 gets it!" Meh, they have no stage presence... luckily I still had the endorphins of the awesomeness of Mogwai, so it wasn't tooooo bad.

Have you ever been to see a band that are so terrible that you not only want to run screaming from the venue that you'd pay to be takn far away and shoot the journalists who rated uch a band so highly?

Well tonight i had the dubious honor of seeing Ok Go live in person! And they were the weakest streak of piss i...

Yar. I am going to wish you merry birthday a day late. Or rather two days late, but I'll pretend that that was out of my control. Stupid time differences. Yeeeeh.

I saw Chuck Palahniuk speak at a small gallery back in October/November. Very entertaining, I can say that I found his speech & manner more amusing than his books. Which I'm sure some people will be displeased with me for, but I've had bad experiences with his fans (i.e. dated a boy for a while who had these bizarre ideas about sex/relationships... when I wanted an explanation, he said, 'Chuck Palahniuk advocates it!' Oh dear).

I think that pirates are just a general internet meme. I'm sure that you can find such things on fark.com and whatnot.

Futurama is awesome, but the episode w/ Fry's dog... sniff sniff it kills me. heh.

Isn't the Secretary a 'very' naughty film. Yum...

Yay for Arnie's putdowns smile

Secretary's good, yah, though I dunno if it's what I was expecting... but James Spader's always good for a bit of pervy creepiness, and Maggie Gylenhaal is obviously going to be one to watch wink
scylla:
Yeah, I had to break it off with my boy when I went off to college, which is a shame because we had a wonderful, healthy relationship... but then I got to college and saw how all of these long-distance things were falling apart, and I knew that I'd done the right thing really.

But on the other hand, ending it on a really positive note, then getting time to meet new people, new activities, etc, then maybe striking up a really strong friendship later on is possible, and it can be pretty fulfilling. It's a really difficult decision though, but you can always think about 'maturity' and whatnot... blah, though. frown

Oh! I actually really enjoy Donnie Darko, though it absolutely weirded me out... I guess I'm just a sucker for creative time travel. smile

I'm talking about the Italian Job remake, yah. I enjoyed it, but 24 hours later and I don't remember it at all. Heh.

Well, my girl's in Italy, i've started reading for my dissertation and I was so totally not blown away by Matrix Revolutions but hey, at least the weathers good, i look like a surfer today and i've just got a sugar rush after eating 250g of M&M's.

What are you doing your dissertation on? I thought about doing fan culture and the Manics, but couldn't be arsed so did a project instead.

Unfortunately, I'm gonna have to take any job pretty damn soon - no more juicy student loans to look forward to frown

Saw the Dandy Warhols play lsat night, it was live on the Radio and the day of their lastest album release so they were on top form, just like being at a giant love-in, maaaaan that was cool...
nickysonic:
Didn't hear it! I bought the album and to be honest I'm a bit disappointed. Nick Rhodes shouldn't be let anywhere near a studio. frown

Why is it that in my youth (22) i've taken to drinking bitter, cheap bitter at that! It's probably the least sexy drink avalible, its opposite being straight vodka or even better 'Blavod', that really cool looking black vodka you get in Tesco's that if you hold up to the light looks like its red, or green or both, I thik SG's should take it...

the least glamorous booze is the sort that tries to be swish and fails. lambrini, warm white wine in old man pubs, snowballs.

I don't know if its specifically an ego thing, although it is very nice being so "publically adored". I did it because it was fun, I love shooting, and I couldn't afford the membership...

That's a valid point. I also think there are many sides to me..many parts of me..so yes.

And hello, by the way smile Always nice to talk to a fellow UK person smile
