Hey there! I love Portland myself. In fact I moved back after 5 yeas in Chicago cause I missed the place too darn much. I love the people here and the city is a great mix of real-city with a small-town feel. (Of course I'm from Chicago so it seems smallish to me.)

I did stay off my feet all day yesterday, except for when i had to get up and pee and wash my tattoo and what not, I feel alot better but it still hurts. Normally I would bitch about the pain of got now but it's so much less then yesterday it barely bothers me.

Sounds like a great plan - I like the house boat idea. I'd also have to agree with you about the rain. If things were up to me, it would rain nearly everday of the year, only pausing for snow. Although it doesn't quite meet the fantasy, the Pacific NW comes awfully close in delivering this choice weather.
