finally back in Cali. The flight back was smooth and nice enough, I'm just about over my jet lag, and I'm slowly easing back into life in these United States. Yesterday I had thanksgiving with my family, which was pretty okay. Though at times I felt that it was all a bit much to deal with.

I feel the urge to say something more, but...

yay! yay for edison computech.

i went to computech for jr. high.

san joaquin memorial for high school.

us catholic school girls are sooo bad.

and i see you're into books. did you perhaps go to fresno state?
sophie:
sorry to keep littering up your journal with nonsense, but fresno state is not bad. my first year of college was spent at cal poly SLO and i was so lonely and homesick that after a year i moved back to fresno. it was a great thing. i finished my BA in english in a total of three years. one in san luis obispo and two in fresno.

of course, by the time i was done with that i was truly needing to get out. so i moved to SF to work on my MA in literature.

again, sorry to give more detail than it appears you were looking for, but fresno state is really a pretty rad school.

going to California with an aching in my heart ...

It's over. Tomorrow morning I catch a plane back home, after two months of magic and wonder travelling Europe's byways. That I did 8 countries in two months without dropping dead from exhaustion means I'm made of stronger stuff than I thought I was when I set out.

I wish I could stay forever. I...

now I'm back in England. I didnt get hardly enough time in Paris, but then I could live there my whole life and not get enough. So many of the places I've been in Europe are like that, and it's been great to get even the slightest taste of them.

I'm flying back to Jesusland, er, the USA, on Tuesday, so the next four days...

Two places you MUST go to, both in Soho: Garlic and Shots (menu is pretty much garlic everything, and they have over 100 different kinds of shots) and The Spice of Life, really nice pub.

Now I'm in Paris, enjoying my last full day on the Continent. tomorrow I catch a train back to London where I'll be staying a couple days before flying home.

Today I had lunch in a very famous caf on the Boulevard Saint-Germain in the Latin Quarter, called the Cafe de Flore. It was a favorite hang out for Sartre, de Beauvoir and Camus, and...

Eh, you probably won't sleep nonstop for a week. Make sure you sleep on the plane and you'll be good.
sicily:
yup...i lived in that tiny, dark, skank-ass, moldy basement room. it gave me allergies and hives...grossest house i've ever lived in! but, it was fun.

Now in Madrid, did some cool museums today and saw awesome art works, including a few favorites. Barcelona was a blast, I stayed out late clubbing and had a great time. Madrid is supposed to be the nightlife capital of Europe, but I've been way too tired lately to go out and see it. I have been to a few bars that had pretty shitty...

Now I'm in Barcelona, having fun but starting to really feel a drain from all my journeys so far. Since Nice and my last entry I went to Avignon, a very pretty medieval town in the Provence region in the south of France. It was nice but very cold and most things were shut due to the season and it being a Sunday when I...

shit. shit shit shit shit shit.

I can't quite say I'm ashamed to be an American, but I'm totally dumbfounded at the idiocy and gullibility of 51% of the American electorate. It's like they really live in a parallel reality, and it's incredibly alienating.

I'm in Nice, France right now, and still having lots of fun on my trip, but it's impossible to think about...

America will never be "america" again. The concept is dead man, we have lost touch with what it once meant (if it ever meant anything), and like you said our nation is taking on a different face.

While it was only 51 percent, if the other 49 sit back and allow four more years of depleted uranium bombs, economic suffering, and environmental destruction, it will go from being 51 to 100 percent of america that the world hates.

we have to resist, we have to do something

yep, it will be

I'm in Florence, Italy now and having a great time, as usual. Since my last entry I went to Munich and Venice on my way here. Both places were very cool, especially Venice (oh, wow, what a place).

Odd, I don't have that much to say right now. I'm in Florence for three nights, including tomorrow night when I might stay up late to watch...

Now I'm in a little town in Bavaria called Regensburg, staying with a friend of my cousin who's at uni here. Prague was interesting enough though at times depressing and often frustrating. The worst part was that my train over the border was delayed yesterday, causing me to miss my connections and take 11 hours to get here, instead of the 5 I'd planned on....

Now I'm in Berlin, in a funky hostel in the former East Berlin. Amsterdam was fun enough, but where I was in the city center was way too touristy. between that and getting stoned constantly I didn't manage to see very much, though the Van Gogh museum was really cool. After Amsterdam I went to Cologne, Germany for two nights, then got to Berlin yesterday....

Berlin fucking rocks, it's my favorite place that I"ve ever visited. If you can, check out Prenzlauerberg and Mitte, two of the cooler neighborhoods there. And yeah, everyone in Berlin is eerily attractive. Kind of bizarre, huh?
natsuko:
Make sure you visit the weird ass art museums. Berlin has the strangest modern art ever.

Amsterdam really is like an adult Disneyland, except that the "rides" are a lot more expensive. Been having a good time, though I've mostly just been getting really stoned, which has been great except that it makes me a bit antisocial and uninterested in going out and seeing cool stuff. Saw a couple good museums, though haven't seen much in the way of nightlife. And...

Haven't updated in a while, for some reason I was uncomfortable with the big naked pics on the login page while at a public terminal. but then, it's Europe.

I'm still in Paris, and having the time of my life. I finally found a Net cafe with American-style keyboards, so I'm able to type this pretty fast. Anyway, wow. the last six days have been...

You might not even read this before you leave, but when you're in Paris you should visit the Catacombs if they're still open (I recall hearing some sort of controversy a while back, but I wasn't really paying attention..). Where in Spain are you going? If Barcelona, definitely check out all the Gaudi stuff.
In Amsterdam I really wanted to go to de Poezenboot, a houseboat full of cats, but I didn't have time. frown
Yeah.. and I'm sure you know all the usual stuff. Have fun!
legionnaire:
GO TO BERLIN!!!!! Seriously. You won't regret it.

Glad to hear that you're having a great time. Isn't Paris amazing?
