for me the problem with quitting was always this group of Somalians i used to deal with on a regular basis at one of the recording studios i worked it. they would book time, bring in this one keyboard guy who did the backing tracks for like, everyone and then different vocalists... they'd bang out these traditional Somali songs real quick, usually in about two 6 hour sessions, take the masters and release it as short run cassettes in the store the one dude ran in their community...

thing is, these guys were loud, obnoxious, temperamental, demanding, etc etc (the one dude explained to me once that Somalians had picked up mannerisms from the italians who'd occupied their country back in the day, lol)... and they mostly smoked like chimneys.

not once, not twice but three times these guys thwarted me in my attempts to quit smoking. i'd be cruisin along on a 3 or 4 month streak of no tobacco. these guys would show up for another session... start flipping the fuck out at each other til it got to the point that i'd turn to one of em and demand a cigarette, walk outside, smoke it and that'd be that.

the time i finally *did* succeed at quitting was likely only because the studio had stopped booking sessions with them in favor of other projects that were more important to the owner...

anyway, the short version of my long-winded point is this: removing as many "trigger" factors as possible = win.

in the meantime, i hope you were vaguely entertained by this pointless story from my past

good luck and just remember why you quitting when those cravings hit. Time to test that old saying of love conquers all.

Wait until you can actually taste food and smell things again. That is why I don't miss smoking.

ahhh that reminds me of a funny story.

a few years ago a friend and i took my sister and her friend to a weezer/ff concert... and when we got out of the car it smelled like i walked into a bong and i was like "whoa" and my sisters friend asked me what i was whoa-ing at. i asked her if she knew what that smell was, and she proceeded to breathe in deeply and looked at me and said "fresh air?" now anytime i smell weed and am with my sister, i say "mmm fresh air".
