I'm surprised more people aren't interested in Mishima. I found out about him because I like Phillip Glass and I picked up the soundtrack to the movie released in 1985. The DVD was worthwhile, especially Paul Schrader's commentary. He said that Mishima's life was schizophrenic and "compartmentalized". He had friends in literary circles, friends in the gay community, family friends, really close connections to people in the military... all kept separate from each other in the organization of his life.
That's the most fascinating bit I remember about the guy.
