I thought that Danielle Hendersons new book from AiT/PlanetLar, Tales From Fish Camp: A City Girl's Experience Working in an Alaskan Fishing Village, would be perfect reading for all of SuicideGirls. I read so many girls journals on this site...
Larry Tee coined electroclash as a genre of music. One of the first of his electroclash discoveries was the beloved mullet-having, potty-mouthed, dirty-diva, Peaches. He also wrote Supermodel by RuPaul and has his own version available for your listening pleasure on Larry Tee's Electroclash Mix CD....
Roscoe's Mac and Cheese is the best thing on the planet, ever, ever, ever. I saw Magic Johnson there too. Yum!

Jim Goad published his own magazine in the nineties called ANSWER Me! which is in the process of being reprinted. He is the author of The Redneck Manifesto and his autobiography, Shit Magnet. His style is a perfect combination of serious, soulful, human and blunt. Sometimes a comedian, sometimes a scholar, but always brutally honest.
Despite what you've heard, Jim Goad is a rather rational,...

Jim Goad is a funny, intelligent, vital guy who young people would do well to emulate. I think what most people lost track of in this thread is that there are good fake rednecks and bad fake rednecks, good actual rednecks and bad actual rednecks. With Redneckization, we have to attempt to come to terms with behavior and words, maybe a smattering of background, but mainly behavior and statements as the determining factor of an individuals character.
The cartoonist Dan Clowes, with regard to Hustler, said in an interview way back that the magazaine had created an archetype. These are our fake rednecks, and perhaps our good fake rednecks. This archetype began as a fiction, but was too awesome an identity to let go to waste. The Hustler manufactured person is a libertarian, anti-gun control, and probably into Toby Keith but is actually literate, against prejudicial thinking and minimally somewhat politically aware. I consider myself a good fake redneck and I hope to live up to the moniker.

All I know is "You Turn Me OFF" from Answer Me! #3 still get's me laughing my ass of. It's also a great 'test' to put to my friends, I love to see/hear their reactions to it. After reading that 'essay'? I was a fan of Answer Me! It's tongue in cheek misanthropy (or what I perceived as tongue in cheek) lit up my funny bone like I never thought could happen...

I think the best part is he was a fellow clubber with Michael Alig and had a hand in the Party Monster soundtrack. Interesting survival-revival! Go Larry.

Larry Tee is teh RAD.
Tony Jaa is being touted as the next Jackie Chain or Bruce Lee by both the press and the movie company that is releasing his first movie, Ong-bak. Its no fucking exaggeration! In fact with Bruce Lee dead and Jackie Chan hitting 50 this year, Jaa is the rightful inheritor to that crown. The moves...

I first saw Deep Throat about 15 years ago on grainy bootleg VHS tape [remember those?]. At the time I thought that Cinemax Friday Nights after Dark were more scandalous and titillating. However Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbatos documentary Inside Deep Throat schooled me just as it will school everyone...
I feel badly for Sicks Deep. Well, not too badly, because they have the whole "on-the-brink-of-rock-superstardom" thing going for them. I do feel bad enough though, since they had arrived in Philadelphia just an hour before I met with them only to find out that they have no Satyricon to open for, and...
There arent many comic book artists popular enough or even talented enough to have a coffee shop in Nagoya, Japan use their name and designs. But certainly Gary Panter deserves that and more. Panter first garnered attention in the comic book world with his surrealistic character Jimbo, which Panter...

Comedian Greg Behrendt has had a banner year. His book with Liz Tuccillo, He's Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys has sold almost 2 million copies, his standup act is popular enough to sell out large venues and the sitcom he worked...
