Circle Jerks?!! Wow! I haven't heard them in awhile! I saw them with 7 Seconds some odd 15 years ago now - they were excellent (I managed to catch the Ramones too that year, with the Dickies biggrin).

punk rock. i havent got that much . i have never been into punk in a big way.

i did like "x" (the sydney band)

perhaps they came the closest to being my favourite 'punk' band. thing is they never dressed in the 'uk punk' fashion . they were sloppy, raucous, unpredictable. they were funny. they were gloriously unsuccessful.

tonite fbi played a x retrospective...

Yeah. I went to see his grave. I'm not sure what I was thinking would happen, but after reflecting on it for bit, I'm not happy with the experience. I walked into the graveyard and expected his grave to stand out more. I don't know, nice, maybe mor flowers or green space. It didn't. I found it because I followed a few people in the general direction of where I assumed it was. Bruce and Brandon are side by side in the cemetary, right along the road. Their head stones are nice, but not impressive-and part of me doubts that Bruce would've liked one at all. There was never more than 1 or 2 people around while I was there, but that's enough (when they're snappin' photos) to realize the touristy BS that it really is. I'm happy I went there, but sad that it's become something it probably should not have.

You know, Johnny Cash would be the perfect soundtrack for a trip like that. I've got a lot of info gathering to do before I can make any plans though.

40-60 mins. running! You're making me feel bad for slacking on my exercise routine....but that's probably a good thing.
alita:

They are calling it one of the most remarkable running performances from an australian in the last 20years. yesterday benita johnson won the world cross country championships in brussels over the long course - 8k. there were only 2 white girls in the top 12 - the africans usually completely dominate distance running. benita now looms as a genuine chance in the 10,000mtrs in athens....

this morning i went to watch a pro surfing contest we have at our local beach and saw kelly slater catch 2 waves!! the weather was perfect. there were a couple of thousand people on the beach and swarming the headland - what a buzz seeing all those people at my beach! mother nature being the fickle bitch decided not to produce any decent waves...

hehe shark island.. that place brings back memories, memories of getting nailed to the reef on a shallow 3ft wave and then being dragged along it.. man that place is so heavy..

hey you knw that feeling when you just get back from a long run or a long ride and you feel totally exhausted but stoked that you did it, thats how i am right now.. just cracked 100km in one ride for the first time, its taken me ages to get it.. i've been hitting 60 and 70km reasonably easy but couldnt quite make the 100.. i tacked onto the back of a pack on beach road, melbourne, introduced myself to a few guys and just kept on pedalling..

good luck with the new job??

To be honest I'm not that into Bowie, although one of my friends is a near-obsessive. I just really dug what he did with a load of industrial / drum n bass influences on that album. Totally unexpected and he still managed to pull it off.

todays multiple dilema's

do i go running in the rain this morning?
do i stay in a motel tonite or face a long drive tomorrow?
do i ask for leave or call in sick on saturday?
do i sell shares and take 10% or hold out?

feeling decidedly indecisive

smile

ok, here's my advice..

no, dont go run in the rain, you'll slip and roll your ankle and be pissed off.. plus you'll get a cold..

stay in the motel and get room service, but get up early the next day and leave early..

call in sick on saturday, use your leave when you need it most, ie. trip to the snow...

how long has it taken the shares to make you 10%?? if it's been ages, take the 10% and roll the rest over into some other shares, put the 10% in a term deposit and see which one matures fastest..

how's all that sound???

i have a strange obsession with mountains and snow for a boy from a dry flat continent. i was lying in bed this morning reading the travel pages in the saturday paper and dreaming of far off lands. the majority of images left me cold except for the pictures of mountains and snow. the one that i fixated on was a shot of a skier...

Cheers mate. My brother (long time Sydney resident) gave me a bit of a heads-up too, but he didn't give me a show breakdown, so that's helpful.

There's a couple of Sydney-siders here at SG now, I thought I might suggest a get-together over a few beers sometime if you're up for it. No specific plans yet, but there's 3 or 4 of us arouund the place.

(Do you listen to RRR over the web, btw?)

foreign affairs the periodical?
i just got the jan/feb edition and it's wicked (if this is what you're talking about..)

how great are abattoirs?
i saw a fantastic short film on abattoirs this week. i'm now conveniently scarred. if only i could scar all my meating eating friends with this video.
it's not actually that scarring (mainly because when i turned it off and made a lentil burger??) because it had some interesting short interviews with abattoir workers.

blerr

apart from my dodgy short film on abattoirs i haven't seen a good video/dvd in ages.
ooh wait i lie.. i saw pirates of the caribbean again last weekend wink
but i feel your crappy-video pain.
my recent video binges have resulted in extreme dissatisfaction
