Broke my foot at Taekwondo. Not cool. Good thing I have vdeo games and movies and books. And I guess I could study.

Hope your foot is feeling better. I'd love to meet up with you so we can talk and perhaps have a bite to eat. I would meet you in Manhattan, so traveling shouldn't be a burden for you.

Are you able to get around to the point that you do things outside of your apartment? If so, I'd love to plan something very soon. If it's doable, may I suggest this Friday. I'll be free anytime that day. The city won't be very crowded because many places will be closed, as Saturday is July 4th. There won't be so much pushing and shoving as there would be on a normal Friday.

If this Friday isn't good for you, we can do it almost any other time. How about this. Instead of going back and forth on SG, why don't we talk on the phone about this. You can give me a call any time, or I can call you. How does that sound? If I don't hear from you by tomorrow morning, either by phone or through SG, I'll give you a call around noon. I'm thinking that even if you can't get together this soon because of your foot, we can still talk for a while by phone.

I'm relating to this quote right now, as I prepare to spend my last week with Hiro.

"Denial is like Versailles; it isn't the easiest thing to maintain."- Marisha Pessl, Special Topics in Calamity Physics.

I may never see him again. I've very tentatively approached the idea of him leaving Japan and coming back to New York, but I have not yet uttered the word...

I'm depressed on and off about H leaving soon. I'm so glad to know him and be with him (for the time that we had and still have), but I can't believe that two people can be so happy and have it taken away from them so easily. Well, OK. I can believe it. I'm kind of cynical. But it still sucks.

wsoxfan:
Yes, it does suck. As you said though, it's better that you had the experience with him than not to have known him at all.

I can tell you this. Whether it's a long term relationship where one gives his or her heart and soul to it, or whether it's short-lived, intensely physical and passionate, it hurts when it's over. I had both types of situations, practically back to back. They both ended, each for a different reason. While it hurt immensely that they ended, the memories of both of them can never be taken away from me.

I hope you can treasure the memories of your time with H. That way, he'll alwayus be with you.

i wish i could simplify THIS one too. smile

These last few weeks with H will be bittersweet. I'm finding that the thing that makes me most sad is worrying whether he'll be happy when he goes back to his life in Japan. I can't stand the idea of him being unhappy. It's going to be painful for me when he leaves, but I know I'm free to keep looking and find someone else....

Thanks for checking on me. Spending time with family allows me to divert my attention from my ongoing struggles, at least for a little while.

Things are progressing, but it's at a snail's pace. I'm trying to stay positive and focused. Being able to remain on SG is a relief. I have so many people who care about me here. You are very prominent in that category.

How are you doing? I think about you often. It's a comfort to know that you're there for me. I can assure you I'm here whenever you need me.

The decision has turned out not to be as drastic as I thought. I was going to announce a move to Japan. Instead, I'm sharing some information I discovered on Sunday: my boyfriend has a wife in his home country.

I was blindsided by that information. And then I had another decision to make.

For various reasons that all make perfect sense to me, and...

In honor of Mother's Day. The things Grandma taught me go way beyond this list, but here are 10 things I learned, or learned to aspire to, from her:

1. To accept change.
2. To extend kindness, not pass judgment.
3. To love others selflessly.
4. To laugh unabashedly.
5. To be sassy.
6. To get my way while seeming unassuming.
7. To evaluate whether...

Thank you so very much for that birthday note you left me. I'm grateful that I have you as a friend, even though I don't say it very often.

Also, I'm glad you like the ring. I had them made. They didn't turn out as pretty as I hoped for and they fucked up the sizes but they're ours. And they can be fixed.

I somewhat accidentally went on a date with one of of the Japanese businessmen I teach. He asked me out last weekend when I had just come to work from Taekwondo class, so I was all post-workout euphoric, and hungry and in a hurry to eat lunch before I had to teach. And I said yes before I really thought about it. It was a...

Thanks for the comment... I think I cut through the cold, blank, feelings today. No more tears to cry... for now.

Sometimes acting spontaneously can work out. Glad it turned out well.

I'm trying to be happy for the stabilizing forces in my life: therapy, the cat, Taekwondo, a few friends. But I want more.

Normally I should be in Europe until June 25, if that's not too much of a problem, I can look for availability then.

Of course if France continues to be an ass, I might end up not going at all, and visit you in New York instead, though I think I would prefer to do so later this year or in January.

Well, I guess my nutritionist was right, because I seem to have stopped menstruating. Again. My advice to you folks out there: don't develop an eating disorder.

In spite of the crappiness of having a physical sign to show me my diet has been unhealthy, I do know that now I'm on the right track, and I do feel hopeful.

i love your advice about just having feelings and letting them be. definitely a life lesson i hope to learn.

we should, like, take a walk through the park holding hands in the sunshine and try to make ourselves feel good about our lives. smile

Thank you....I think I just had super guilty shit feeling last night and I actually feel a little better today. I really do appreciate your words, So much.

I've been pretty depressed. I don't feel like myself, think like myself, or sound like myself when I'm like this.

I've perked up a bit for the moment because I just came back from a good workout. My "perking up" often starts with anger.

I need to say "fuck you" more often. Some people really deserve it, and if, instead of caring about how they...

One of the teachers asked me the other day what made me interested in martial arts. I didn't have a ready answer, but I thought about it. I think I'm interested for two reasons. One is that I've always felt like a fighter, in the personal sense. I've struggled with some things in my life, and for the most part I've come out the winner:...

No need to thank me. My daughter just stated the obvious. I'm glad that her comment lifted your spirits. But no more than the fact that you've ben lifting my spirits since I've known you.

I was sure to tell my daughter that you were also beautiful in other ways.

When I see a friend struggling with a destructive addiction, I want to give that friend all the support I felt I didn't have in the beginning of my recovery from my eating disorder. No one deserves to go through a difficult time alone. I'm thankful for my own experience, the bad times and the better ones, for teaching me to respect my needs, showing...

I'm so happy to read this. Any involvement in physical fitness is a huge boost to one's mental health. I miss the gym. I stopped going due to monetary concerns. I still try to get out and do certain things, like walking. Now I have to try to get back to my healthy diet from last year.

I appreciate my familly more than ever in these troubled times. I also appreciate the friends I've made here, of ehich you're definitely in that category. It's amazing how much you've all helped me. Who knew a year ago that it would be this way?

I hope your health and outlook continue to head in a positive direction. You're my friend and I care about you very much.
