I don't think that many pictures of me exist in the world. I must not be a bohemian, then.
velocity:
There is actually one picture of me on the whole wide internet, but it's slightly old and I'm labeled as a parking ramp. Or rather, the parking ramp is labeled as me.

My kingdom for a hoagie.

It's getting colder over here in China, not Canada cold, but chilly if your apartment has no heating devices besides blankets and a small wall heater in the bathroom.

Pygmy and I plan on having a Chinese Xmas by going for a short holiday to Hangzhou, and have Christmas dinner at Louwailou, one of the most famous restaurants in China....

Favorite SG related moments:

- the wildness of meeting everyone at the first big SG Prom in San Fran - making Becca
dance

- breaking toes (in self-defense!) at the 1st SG Calgary NYE Party, also being completely unstoppable at Mario Kart in the Star capturing multi-challenge

- mysterious midnight phone calls from [SGnameredacted] reading out full Borges short stories in the original spanish

I keep having dreams that I'm having weird medical issues (rattle snake bite, ear tumor pressing on brain), and I'm always at these Halloween parties surrounded by girls and wandering through underground passages. And Barack Obama's there, pouring orange juice.

Freudians and/or Jungians! To my aid!

Presumably even in China, one can get instant (if not good) mac and cheese?

Oh god, Delfino's has the best deep dish in the world, even better than the supposed originator of the style, Pizzeria Uno (I ran through airport security with one of their pies balanced on my head once, but that's an entirely different story involving some of the best stunt driving I've ever seen).

Delfino's has a crust that's crispy on the outside, slightly doughy on the inside, rich garlicky red sauce, melty mozzarella, and they put whole pine nuts in their pesto pizza. It's divine. I can't think of a better Christmas dinner.

Things that are on my mind:

- the music of the carillon (the world's largest musical instrument made entirely of bells)

- obscure gamelan music (fuck mainstream gamelan that all the kids are listening to! yuck yuck)

- weird disco (the subject of my next podcast)

- the degree to which birdsong might function as actual music

- Canadian folks songs, specifically lumberjack music

I once performed a choral song that imitated Gamelan music. It was hideous

If you've been on this site as long as I have you might remember I used to do a college radio show for 5 years called "Toast in the Machine." Whenever I'd have a show I'd post a link in my journal, many of you would listen and a fun time would be had by all.

I'm now getting back in the business with a...

Meh, I puked in a train station in Japan once. Of course that had less to do with drinking and more to do with drinking while taking an extra bc pill (I learned never to do that again). Still, my 23rd birthday was pretty idiotic. I didn't piss myself, though.

I'll tell her you said so.

If there's one curmudgeonly SG member that is dear to my heart, why that member is MisterSatan.

Why is that do you ask? His wit, his panache? His library, Seattle-guidance? His massive Coca-Cola flavored dong? (or so it's rumored)

Well those things too, but there is another reason as well. Once, long ago, MisterSatan initiated me into the numinous.

He was the first...

Yeeeeah we ARE cute and usually look much (I actually accidentally wrote 'mush' at first ahaha) more content, but all part of being in character ya know?
I'm slightly lactose intolerant, a little cheese on my pasta or milk in my coffee is OK, but ice cream does awful things to my insides, it really blows

Yeah, just for DS. My husband enjoyed Portal, and I think there's a PC version of that. Have you played it yet?

I'm reading Cory Doctorow's new novel "Makers." It has the usual Doctorow tropes (I tried to portmanteau that but gave up) - new technologies, ways of making, theme parks, etc. It has a very Bruce Sterling feel to me - entertaining fiction that's mainly about new social trends and technologies, or extrapolated ones.

It feels very today and I like that.

It makes me want...

I started on that one as well, reading it where he'd posted it online. Having only read "Little Brother" previously, of Doctorow's works, the only author-specific-cliche that jumped out at me was the idealistic techies in a world of folks who don't get it. I was entertained and still mean to get back to it, but as so often happens with books, distraction proved more powerful.

Presently "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" is frontpaged on my iPhone/Kindle. No, I'd never gotten around to reading it until now. It took me the first chapter or two to shake my expectations from Blade Runner, and now I'm enjoying it immensely.

I guess now you just keep on with your bad self. You've reached the top of a very prestigious two-rung ladder of success.

The only thing that keeps me from the top rung is that my husband doesn't like to be called a bitch.
velocity:
Well, I do have the rap patrol on the gat patrol, so I guess it's fitting.
