#1 I don't think it is the want that grows more intense, I think it is the added emotions, initially. It might be jealousy, or frustration, or rejection or a combo of emotions. With these added emotions comes more for us to deal with. Then we want to be able to deal with these emotions, and we know that if we get what we want it would be solved. Thus adding more emotions... etc
#2 For me, I don't freak out when I can't get something I want. I just try to deal with the emotions in a better way.

Oh, it's easy to make sure they are clean. I mean, after a while, they get black with the charring; you just have to make sure it all burns off when you put the lighter to it. That's about it actually. It feels great. The scars tend to last a while and you can pretty much make them whatever size you want, whatever shape you want, and as noticable as you like.
